The Ducati 1299 Panigale is a Ducati sport bike unveiled at the 2014 Milan Motorcycle Show and produced since 2015 as a successor to the 1199. The motorcycle is named after the small manufacturing town of Borgo Panigale. The 1299 wheelbase remains the same at 1437 mm. The base version retains front forks by Marzocchi and Sachs shock absorber; The S variant has new semi-active Öhlins Smart EC suspension that can be switched between different driving modes to match road conditions. The entire range is now equipped with new generation of electronics, including a new IMU, racing ABS and anti-wheelie. Superbike World Championship (also known as WorldSBK, SBK, World Superbike, WSB, or WSBK) is a silhouette-class road racing series based on heavily modified production motorcycles, also known as superbike racing. Borgo Panigale (Bolognese dialect: ''Al Båurg'', ''Båurg Panighèl'') was a district of Bologna, northern Italy. Located in the city's western part, between the rivers Lavino and Reno, it had a population of 24,935 in 2009. Since 2016 it has been part of the Borgo Panigale-Reno district. A sport bike (sports motorcycle, or sports bike) is a motorcycle designed and optimized for speed, acceleration, braking, and cornering on asphalt concrete race tracks and roads. A sequential manual transmission, also known as a sequential gearbox, or a sequential transmission, is a type of non-synchronous manual transmission used mostly for motorcycles and racing cars. It produces faster shift times than traditional synchronized manual transmissions, and restricts the driver to selecting either the next or previous gear, in a successive order.
