Duane Miller
Duane Miller (born 1947) is a former college and professional football player. He holds nine Drake University football records, many which have withstood the test of time. Miller's career at Drake (1966–1970) included record-breaking performances on offense, defense, punt returns and kickoff returns. He was selected for the Drake Football All-Century Team. Miller was chosen by the New York Giants in the 1970 NFL Draft. He played in all four preseason games and earned a spot on the 53-man regular season roster. He suffered a knee injury at the start of the season that ended his football career. Early life Duane Miller was born on December 12, 1947, the son of Delmar and Eleanor Miller. He grew up on a farm in Kellerton, Iowa and attended Mount Ayr, Iowa schools. Alexander "Red" Webster (April 19, 1931 – March 3, 2012) was an American football fullback and halfback in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Giants. He was also the head coach of the Giants from 1969 to 1973. Des Moines () is the capital and the most populous city in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is also the county seat of Polk County. A small part of the city extends into Warren County. Fran Tarkenton
Francis Asbury Tarkenton (born February 3, 1940) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for 18 seasons, primarily with the Minnesota Vikings. He played college football at the University of Georgia, where he was recognized as a two-time first-team All- SEC, and was selected by the Vikings in the third round of the 1961 NFL Draft. After retiring from football, he became a media personality and computer software executive. Tarkenton's tenure with the Vikings spanned thirteen non-consecutive seasons. He played for Minnesota six seasons from 1961 to 1966 when he was traded to the New York Giants for five seasons, and then traded back to Minnesota for his last seven seasons from 1972 to 1978. The 1970 National Football League Draft was the 35th National Football League Draft and the first of the league's modern era, following the merger of the National Football League with the American Football League. It was held on January 27–28, 1970, at the Belmont Plaza Hotel in New York City, New York. American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves.
