He was drafted in 1961 by the Los Angeles Rams in the ninth round of the NFL draft. He spent seven years in the NFL playing for the Los Angeles Rams (1961–64), Baltimore Colts (1965-66) and Chicago Bears (1967). He was born in Alhambra, California in 1937. He died at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena after having suffered a stroke on April 11, 2003. The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns.
