The International School of Luxembourg (ISL) is a privately owned non-profit international school located in Hollerich, Luxembourg City, in southern Luxembourg. History The school was founded in 1963 under the name DuPont de Nemours Private School. As part of a deal with the Luxembourg government to open Europe's first polyester film plant in the country the American conglomerate DuPont requested that its employees have access to an American-style education for their children. Classes were first located in the dining room of a private home in Strassen, before moving, in early 1963, to a single classroom at a primary school in Cessange. Soon after, the Luxembourg government offered to the school classrooms at Servais House at the junction of Avenue Maria-Teresa and Boulevard Joseph II, where the school remained for six years. Hollerich
Hollerich ( lb, Hollerech) is a quarter in south-western Luxembourg City, in southern Luxembourg. , the quarter has a population of 7,132 inhabitants. Hollerich railway station is located on Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois Line 70, which connects Luxembourg City to the south-west of the country. Hollerich station is only 600 metres to the south-west of the country's main terminus, Luxembourg railway station, and just to the west of a major junction that separates traffic exiting Luxembourg station to the south. The urban park Parc Merl is located on its border with Belair. Education The Campus Geesseknäppchen, the largest educational campus in Luxembourg City, is located within the quarter.
