Drury Panthers Women's Basketball
The Drury Panthers are the athletic teams that represent Drury University, located in Springfield, Missouri, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Panthers compete as members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference for all 18 varsity sports. Drury has been a member of the GLVC since 2005. Drury University
Drury University, formerly Drury College and originally Springfield College, is a private university in Springfield, Missouri. The university's mission statement describes itself as "church-related". It enrolls about 1,700 undergraduate and graduate students in six master's programs and 1,279 students in the College of Continuing Professional Studies. In 2013, the Drury Panthers men's basketball team won the NCAA Men's Division II Basketball Championship. Incarnate Word Cardinals
The Incarnate Word Cardinals, also known as UIW Cardinals, are composed of 23 teams representing the University of the Incarnate Word in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, and track and field. Men's sports include baseball and football. Women's sports include softball, synchronized swimming, and volleyball. The Cardinals compete in NCAA Division I and are members of the Southland Conference. UIW has sent multiple fencers to compete in multiple NCAA Fencing Championships (2016 & 2017). On November 12, 2021, Incarnate Word accepted their invitation to join the Western Athletic Conference in 2022. Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver or Metro State) is a public university in Denver, Colorado. Michael Timothy (nicknamed "Jolly") Carter (born July 20, 1955) is an American-Israeli former basketball player. He played the forward and center positions. He played for 11 seasons in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Biography A native of Eagle Rock, California, the son of Sue Carter ( Rose Niedospal; 1922-2014), Michael Timothy Carter stands 6'8" tall. He attended Eagle Rock High School, and played basketball for the school. He then attended Drury University (Physical Education; class of 1979). Carter played for the Drury Panthers, who in 1978–79 were 33–2 and won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national championship as he won the 1979 NAIA men's basketball tournament's Charles Stevenson Hustle Award, and who over his two seasons with the team were 62–6. Ozark, Missouri
Ozark is a city in and the county seat of Christian County, Missouri. Its population was 21,284 as of the 2020 census. The 2019 population estimate was 20,482. The Miami Marlins are an American professional baseball team based in Miami. The Marlins compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) East division. Trevor Michael Richards (born May 15, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers. He made his debut for the Marlins in 2018. Bill Virdon
William Charles Virdon (June 9, 1931 – November 23, 2021) was an American professional baseball outfielder, manager, and coach in Major League Baseball (MLB). Virdon played in MLB for the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates from 1955 through 1965 and in 1968. He served as a coach for the Pirates and Houston Astros, and managed the Pirates, Astros, New York Yankees, and Montreal Expos. After playing in the minors for the Yankees organization, Virdon was traded to the Cardinals, and he made his MLB debut in 1955. That year, Virdon won the National League Rookie of the Year Award. He slumped at the beginning of the 1956 season, and was traded to the Pirates, where he spent the remainder of his playing career.
