Geography Drummond is located in southwestern Garfield County at (36.300984, -98.035730). Oklahoma State Highway 132 (Kansas Avenue) runs along the eastern edge of the town, leading north to U.S. Route 412 at a point west of Enid, the county seat. Drummond Castle is located in Perthshire, Scotland. The castle is known for its gardens, described by Historic Environment Scotland as "the best example of formal terraced gardens in Scotland." It is situated in Muthill parish, south of Crieff. The castle comprises a tower house built in the late 15th century, and a 17th-century mansion, both of which were rebuilt in Victorian times. The gardens date to the 1630s, although they too were restructured in the 19th century. The formal gardens are protected as a category A listed building, and are included on the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland. The Drummond Nature Reserve is an A class nature reserve 10 kilometres west of Bolgart, Western Australia. Named after the botanist James Drummond, the reserve has 439 species of vascular plants within its boundaries, including two rare and seven priority species. History In 1993 the land was purchased by the Mundaring district office of the Department of Conservation and Land Management and gazetted as an A class reserve. Prior to purchasing the land was uncleared freehold grazing land. Despite this use the land was in excellent condition, though evidence of grazing impact was visible in part of the eastern area of the reserve. Lake Drummond is a freshwater lake at the center of the Great Dismal Swamp, a marshy region on the Coastal Plain of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina between Norfolk, Virginia, and Elizabeth City, North Carolina, in the United States. Its surface area is approximately and its maximum depth is . It is managed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Geologists believe the Great Dismal Swamp was formed when the continental shelf experienced sudden settling. The entire swamp is underlain by a layer of peat. Several theories exist about the lake's origin. Some postulate that it was created by a large underground peat fire 3,500–6,000 years ago.
