Drum Taps (film)
''Drum Taps'' is a 1933 American pre-Code Western (genre), Western film directed and co-written by J.P. McGowan. It stars Ken Maynard and his brother Kermit Maynard playing brothers. Plot summary The Skinner Cattle Company is scheming to take over the valley by running ranchers off their homesteads. Their main opposition comes from Ken Cartwright who they attempt to frame by making it look like Ken rustled cattle. Ken escapes, but faced with the problem of the Skinner's outlaws using Rocky Pass as a fortress he enlists the aid of Los Angeles Boy Scout Troop #107. Samuel Bischoff
Samuel Bischoff (August 11, 1890 – May 21, 1975) was an American film producer who was responsible for more than 400 full-length films, two-reel comedies, and serials between 1922 and 1964. Life Born to a Jewish family in Hartford, Connecticut, Bischoff graduated from Boston University, then headed for Hollywood, where he began his career in 1922 by producing comedy shorts including Stan Laurel's '' Mixed Nuts'' (1922). He was the head of Samuel Bischoff Productions, a low-budget production company in the 1930s. He drew the attention of Columbia Pictures head Harry Cohn, who hired him to supervise the studio's feature film productions. In 1932, he moved to Warner Bros. and when Hal B. Wallis became production chief after Darryl F. Zanuck left in 1933, Bischoff and Henry Blanke were the main producers at the studio. He returned to Columbia in 1941. Harry Semels
Harry Semels (November 20, 1887 – March 2, 1946) was an American film actor. He appeared in over 315 film between 1917 and 1946. Career Semels appeared in his first film in 1917. He began to achieve fame after arriving at Columbia Pictures, appearing in several Three Stooges shorts including ''Disorder in the Court'', '' Wee Wee Monsieur'' and '' Three Little Sew and Sews''. He also appeared in feature films like ''Road to Morocco'', ''The Princess and the Pirate'' and '' The Kid from Brooklyn''. A versatile character actor, Semels often appeared as villains, waiters, soldiers, lawyers, et al. Personal life Semels was Jewish and had two children, Ruth and David, who was killed in action during World War II. Death Semels died of a heart attack on March 2, 1946, in Hollywood, California. Lloyd Ingraham
Lloyd Chauncey Ingraham (November 30, 1874 – April 4, 1956) was an American film actor and director. Biography Born in Rochelle, Illinois, Ingraham appeared in more than 280 films between 1912 and 1950, as well as directing more than 100 films between 1913 and 1930. Films for which he is known include ''Scaramouche'' (1923), ''The Padrone's Ward'' (1914) and '' Rainbow Valley'' (1935). He performed in several films with John Wayne including '' Rainbow Valley'' (1935), '' Empty Saddles'' (1936), '' Westward Ho'' (1935), '' The Lonely Trail'' (1936) and '' Conflict'' (1936). He died of pneumonia in the Motion Picture Hospital at Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, aged 82. His remains are buried in Chapel of the Pines Crematory. Lemuel Hooper Atchley (April 30, 1887 – November 17, 1943) was an American film actor. Atchley was the son of Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Atchley. He was a 1908 graduate of the Knoxville, Tennessee, school system. Atchley's first professional acting occurred with a stock theater company in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He appeared in 214 films between 1929 and 1944 and is known for his appearance as the inconsiderate father in the ''Our Gang'' film ''Birthday Blues'' (1932). Atchley's Broadway credits included ''Jarnegan'' (1928), ''Across the Street'' (1924), and ''Marie Dressler's "All Star Gambol"'' (1913). Death Atchley died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on November 17, 1943, aged 56, in Hollywood.
