''Drop Down and Get Me'' is the 11th studio album by American rock and roll singer-songwriter Del Shannon. It was considered a comeback album and released in December 1981 after some delay. The album was produced by Tom Petty and included the Heartbreakers as a backing band. It was the last album of new material Shannon released in his lifetime. Critical reception Cub Koda of AllMusic said Del Shannon "sounds great as well, writing nine of the 12 tracks assembled and turning in bang-up readings of Don Everly's "Maybe Tomorrow," the Rolling Stones' "Out of Time" and Phil Phillips' classic "Sea of Love"." Del Shannon
Charles Weedon Westover (December 30, 1934 – February 8, 1990), better known by his stage name Del Shannon, was an American musician, singer and songwriter, best known for his 1961 number-one '' Billboard'' hit " Runaway". In 1999, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In addition, he also had minor acting roles. Biography Shannon was born Charles Weedon Westover on December 30, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Bert and Leone Mosher Westover, and grew up in nearby Coopersville. Benjamin Montmorency "Benmont" Tench III (born September 7, 1953) is an American musician and singer, and a founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Early years Tench was born in Gainesville, Florida, the second child of Benjamin Montmorency Tench Jr. and Mary Catherine McInnis Tench. Michael Wayne Campbell (born February 1, 1950) is an American guitarist. He was a member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and co-wrote many of the band's hits with Petty, including "Refugee", "Here Comes My Girl", "You Got Lucky", and "Runnin' Down a Dream". Outside of The Heartbreakers, he has worked as a session guitarist and songwriter with a number of other acts, including composing and playing on the Don Henley hit " The Boys of Summer", as well as working on most of Stevie Nicks's solo albums.
