DropSend
DropSend is a software tool that allows users to send large files as though by email, through a small desktop client. DropSend has been available since at least November 25, 2005. It is available for Windows and Mac OS X. The service can send files of up to 8GB in size, and is available with 256bit AES Security. On November 4, 2006, the parent company, Carson Systems, expressed an interest in selling its DropSend operations. Flock is also reported to have expressed an interest in acquiring it. Later, in 2008, Ryan Carson announced via Twitter that DropSend had been sold, though he did not specify to whom. About DropSend offers file sharing and storage for individuals. There is a free plan, which includes up to 5 file sends a month and 250 MB/2 GB of storage space, and a number of paid plans which include more sends and storage space. Pando (application)
Pando was an application which was mainly aimed at sending (and receiving) files which would normally be too large to send via more "conventional" means. It used both peer-to-peer ( BitTorrent protocol) and client-server architectures and was released for Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. Pando shut down its servers and ceased business on August 31, 2013. As of February 24, 2014, the Pando Media Booster had been hijacked, and unsuspecting persons who installed a prompted update had their internet browsers hijacked, and a virus called the "Sweet Page" browser virus was installed on their machines. SendThisFile is a file transfer service operated by SendThisFile, Inc., which uses cloud computing and 128-bit TLS encryption to enable users to securely send and receive large data files through the Internet. The company was co-founded in 2003 by CEO Aaron Freeman and his father CFO Michael Freeman. SendThisFile has around 1.5 million users and has transferred over 40 million files.
