Driss Moussaid (born March 29, 1988) is a boxer from Morocco who won bronze at the World Junior Championships 2006 and qualified for the Olympics 2008 at junior welter. Career He won a bronze medal in 2006 at the world junior championship in his native country when he lost the semi to eventual Hungarian winner Balazs Bacskai. At the Olympic qualifier he edged out All Africa champ Hastings Bwalya and also beat Hamza Hassini. Hastings Bwalya (born 25 August 1985) is a Zambian boxer who won the 2007 All-Africa Games at junior welter, and then competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Career Bwalya was defeated in the first round of the 2006 Commonwealth Games at lightweight, and moved up a division. He beat Herbert Nkabiti from Botswana in the 2007 All-African final. In 2008 he qualified for Beijing. He was edged out 21:22 by Moroccan Driss Moussaid in the semis but beat Abdelrahman Salah for the third spot. Light welterweight, also known as junior welterweight or super lightweight, is a weight class in combat sports. Boxing Professional boxing In professional boxing, light welterweight is contested between the lightweight and welterweight divisions, in which boxers weigh above 61.2kg or 135 pounds and up to 63.5 kg or 140 pounds. The first champion of this weight class was Pinky Mitchell in 1946, though he was only awarded his championship by a vote of the readers of the ''Boxing Blade'' magazine. There was not widespread acceptance of this new weight division in its early years, and the New York State Athletic Commission withdrew recognition of it in 1930. The National Boxing Association continued to recognize it until its champion, Barney Ross relinquished the title in 1935 to concentrate on regaining the welterweight championship.
