''Drishyam'' is an Indian Malayalam-language crime thriller film series, written and directed by Jeethu Joseph, produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas. It stars Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil in the lead roles. The film series follows the struggle of Georgekutty and his family who come under suspicion when Varun Prabhakar, the son of Inspector-general of police, goes missing. The first installment to the film series was released on 19 December 2013 and was received very well at the box office. The film was an Industry hit and was the highest-grossing Malayalam film at that time. Jeethu didn't thought of a sequel to the movie until the producer giving him the idea of it. Jeethu Joseph
Jeethu Joseph (born 10 November 1972) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema. He has also worked in a few Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. Jeethu made his directional debut with the 2007 police procedural, ''Detective''. He is best known for the crime thrillers, ''Drishyam'' and ''Drishyam 2''. ''Drishyam'' became the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever, at its time of release. It was the first Malayalam film to cross the 50 crore mark, at the box office. Meena Durairaj (born 16 September 1976), known professionally as Meena, is an Indian actress who predominantly works in the South Indian film industry as well as Hindi cinema. Meena has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films. In addition to acting, Meena is also a playback singer, TV judge, and occasional dubbing artist.
