Drew Carpenter
Andrew James Rudolph "Drew" Carpenter (born May 18, 1985), is an American former professional baseball pitcher. A graduate of Long Beach State University, Carpenter has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, and Toronto Blue Jays. He was called up to the majors for the first time, on August 27, 2008. Career Philadelphia Phillies After posting a 7–4 record and a 2.91 earned run average (ERA) in the 2006 season for Long Beach State, Carpenter was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2nd round of the 2006 MLB Draft and signed on June 14 of the same year. The team assigned him to the Gulf Coast League Phillies, a rookie-league affiliate, where he appeared in two games before being promoted to short-season Batavia for the remainder of the season. Pitcher
In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1.
