''Dressed for the Occasion'' is an album by English singer Cliff Richard, recorded live with the accompaniment of the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in November 1982. It was released in May 1983 on the EMI label and reached No. 7 in the UK Albums Chart and No. 30 in Australia. It was certified Silver in the UK. "True Love Ways", a cover of the Buddy Holly original, was released in April 1983 as the lead single from the album and reached No. 8 on the UK Singles Chart. No further singles were released from the album, however the album includes covers of two additional hit songs, being " Softly, as I Leave You", of which the original English version by Matt Monro reached No. 10 in the UK Singles Chart in 1962; the other being " The Treasure of Love", of which Clyde McPhatter's original in 1956 reached No. 1 on the US ''Billboard'' Rhythm and Blues Chart and No. 22 on the ''Billboard'' Top 100, but only No. 27 in the UK Singles Chart. Hal Shaper (Born Harold David Shaper), 18 July 1931 - 8 January 2004) was a South African songwriter. After qualifying as a lawyer in 1955, he travelled to London to begin his five-decade-long musical career during which he worked with and wrote for well-known artists including Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand and David Bowie. Norman Petty
Norman Petty (May 25, 1927 – August 15, 1984) was an American musician, record producer, publisher, radio station owner, and considered to be one of the founding fathers of early rock & roll. Biography Petty was born in the small town of Clovis, New Mexico. He began playing piano at a young age. While in high school, he regularly performed on a 15-minute show on a local radio station. After his graduation in 1945, he was drafted into the United States Air Force. When he returned, he married his high-school sweetheart Violet Ann Brady on June 20, 1948. The couple lived briefly in Dallas, Texas, where Petty worked as a part-time engineer at a recording studio. Eventually, they moved back to their hometown of Clovis. Alan Tarney (born 19 November 1945) is an English record producer and musician. He was born in Northside, Workington, Cumberland, but spent his teenage years in Adelaide, Australia, where he met his songwriting and musical partner Trevor Spencer. "Devil Woman" is a 1976 single by British singer Cliff Richard from his album '' I'm Nearly Famous''. A worldwide hit on its original release, the song saw a resurgence in popularity after appearing in the film ''I, Tonya'' (2017), as the theme for the character of LaVona Golden, played by Allison Janney. The song was written by Terry Britten and Christine Authors (who was the singer of the Family Dogg under the name Christine Holmes).
