Dick Dreissigacker
Richard Alan Dreissigacker (born March 26, 1947 in New Haven, Connecticut) is a former American Olympic rower and a founder of Concept2, a manufacturer of rowing equipment. While studying engineering at Brown University he took up rowing and went on to represent the United States at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Dreissigacker earned a Master of Science degree in 1974 from Stanford University, where he coached rowing and introduced his brother Pete to the sport. While training for the 1976 US Olympic team the brothers modified their oars with carbon fibre. After failing to be selected they started selling oars and started the company that is now Concept2. His wife Julia "Judy" Geer was a rower in the 1976 and 1984 Olympics, and his sister-in-law Charlotte "Carlie" Geer won a silver medal in single sculls in the 1984 Olympics. Hannah Dreissigacker
Hannah Dreissigacker (born December 2, 1986, in Morrisville, Vermont) is a former American biathlete. She competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Career Dreissigacker comes from a family of Olympic rowers. Her father Richard "Dick" Dreissigacker competed in 1972, her mother Julia "Judy" Geer in 1976 and 1984, and her aunt Charlotte "Carlie" Geer won a silver medal in single sculls in the 1984 Olympics. Her sister Emily Dreissigacker also competed in Biathlon at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She competed in cross-country skiing for Dartmouth College, where she graduated in 2009 with a degree in engineering and studio art, following in the footsteps of her parents, who were both engineers. Emily Dreissigacker
Emily Dreissigacker (born November 29, 1988) is a former biathlete from Vermont. Life and career She competed for the United States at the 2018 Winter Olympics. As a teenager, Dreissigacker competed in cross-country skiing before taking up competitive rowing, going on to become a two-time NCAA All-American whilst a student at Dartmouth College, where she graduated with a degree in economics in 2011. Her switch to biathlon came about in 2014, when she injured her finger in an accident, leaving her unable to row for three months. As a result, she took up cross-country skiing again as cross-training. She retired from biathlon after the 2019/20 season. Her father, Dick Dreissigacker, is an Olympic rower; her mother, Judy Geer, is a three time Olympian in rowing; and her maternal aunt, Charlotte Geer, is a two time Olympian and 1984 Olympic silver medalist in single sculling.
