Drake–Northern Iowa Rivalry
The Drake–Northern Iowa rivalry is the American collegiate athletics rivalry between the Drake Bulldogs sports teams of Drake University and Northern Iowa Panthers sports teams of the University of Northern Iowa. Both universities are located in the State of Iowa and are members of the Missouri Valley Conference. Drake's campus located in Des Moines and Northern Iowa's campus located Cedar Falls are only 123 miles apart. The universities are two of the Big Four schools (four NCAA Division I institutions in Iowa). Background Drake University is a private institution founded in 1881. They Bulldogs were one of the charter members of the Missouri Valley Conference. The University of Northern Iowa is a public institution founded in 1876. The Panthers joined the Missouri Valley Conference in 1991. Drake Bulldogs
The Drake Bulldogs are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent Drake University, located in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. The Bulldogs' athletic program is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) and competes at the NCAA Division I level. Drake also sponsors teams in the Pioneer Football League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and Summit League. Drake's live bulldog mascot is Griff II; the costumed mascot is Spike; and the school colors are blue and white. Sports sponsored Drake University athletics began in 1893. and since 1910, the school has been home to and sponsor of what has become one of the world's premier collegiate athletic events, the annual Drake Relays track and field meet held in April. 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2018 Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball tournament (also known as the Hoops in the Heartland Tournament) is part of the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season and was played in Moline, Illinois, March 8–11, 2018, at the TaxSlayer Center. Macomb is a city in and the county seat of McDonough County, Illinois, United States. It is situated in western Illinois, southwest of Galesburg.
