''The Drag'' is a dramatic play written by Mae West under her pen name Jane Mast. The play opened in out-of-town tryouts in New Jersey and Connecticut, but was later forced to close for its portrayal of homosexuality and cross-dressing. The play never opened on Broadway, as West had planned. This play was the follow-up to West's highly controversial play '' Sex''. The play was performed again throughout June 2019 at Gay City, an LGBT community center in Seattle. Inception West claimed that the inspiration behind the play came from the homosexual young men that she knew around that time who, according to her, desperately wanted to be open about their relationships with their male companions. With the success of '' The Captive'', a play about two women with homosexual overtones, West set out to create a counter piece that dealt with male, gay life. The Del-Aires were a Paterson, New Jersey rock band of the 1960s. ''Ty Segall'' is the self-titled debut studio album by American garage rock musician Ty Segall, released on December 9, 2008 on Castle Face Records. A cassette edition was released on Burger Records. Background and release Local garage rock musician John Dwyer, of Thee Oh Sees and Coachwhips, offered to release ''Ty Segall'' on his label, Castle Face Records. Dwyer befriended Segall after watching him perform with his then-band, The Traditional Fools, with a cast on his arm. Segall has stated that Dwyer's band Coachwhips were among his musical influences upon moving to San Francisco: "I moved o San Franciscoin 2005 and was like, 'Oh man, I really like Coachwhips,' and they're not playing anymore." Witch house is a microgenre of electronic music characterized by dark occult themes and visual aesthetics that emerged in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The style is heavily influenced by chopped and screwed hip hop, as well as industrial music, ethereal wave and dream pop. Witch house incorporates synths, drum machines, obscure samples, droning repetition, and vocals that are heavily altered, ethereal, and/or indiscernible. The witch house visual aesthetic includes occult, witchcraft, shamanism, terror and horror-inspired artworks, collages and photographs as well as significant use of hidden messages and typographic elements such as Unicode symbols. Drag (band)
Drag are an Australian rock band led by Darren Middleton, most known as the lead guitarist from rock group Powderfinger. History Middleton started the band with drummer Mark McElligott, who is also the live engineer for Powderfinger, in 2000 as a side project. In 2002, the duo recorded the EP ''Gas Food Lodging'', a small collection of original songs written specifically for Drag. For these recordings, they brought in local Brisbane musicians, bass player Sean Hartman and pianist Matt Murphy as session musicians to play on the EP. The band was given the chance to record a full-length studio album when Powderfinger took a few years off between albums. In this hiatus, Middleton and McElligott re-enlisted Hartman and Murphy and began playing live around Australia. The band signed with the record label Dew Process, the same label that co-Powderfinger member Bernard Fanning signed with and released his solo album.
