Dr. Peaches
Dr. Peaches was a horse ridden by American Bruce Davidson in the sport of eventing. Dr. Peaches was found as a yearling for Davidson by Robert Tindle. The horse was attacked by a stallion when a foal, which caused him to be nervous round other horses, although he was a very well-tempered horse with a lot of character. However, Davidson created a partnership and the pair had an outstanding career. Dr. Peaches was ranked number 6 on the list of Top Ten All American High Point Event Horses of the Century. He also won the Rolex Kentucky Three Day a record three times (now tied with Winsome Andante): in 1984, 1988, and 1989.http://www.useventing.com/1984_usctanews_feb In his 1984 run, the gelding completed cross country with the second fastest time, only one second slower than Davidson's other mount, Beacon Charm. Thoroughbred
The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the word ''thoroughbred'' is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed. Thoroughbreds are considered " hot-blooded" horses that are known for their agility, speed, and spirit. The Thoroughbred, as it is known today, was developed in 17th- and 18th-century England, when native mares were crossbred with imported Oriental stallions of Arabian, Barb, and Turkoman breeding. Bay (color)
Bay is a hair coat color of horses, characterized by a reddish-brown or brown body color with a black point coloration on the mane, tail, ear edges, and lower legs. Bay is one of the most common coat colors in many horse breeds. The black areas of a bay horse's hair coat are called "black points", and without them, a horse is not a bay horse. Black points may sometimes be covered by white markings; however such markings do not alter a horse's classification as "bay". Bay horses have dark skin – except under white markings, where the skin is pink. Genetically, bay occurs when a horse carries both the Agouti gene and a black base coat. While the basic genetics that create bay coloring are fairly simple, the genes themselves and the mechanisms that cause shade variations within the bay family are quite complex and, at times, disputed. Bruce Davidson (equestrian)
Bruce Oram Davidson (born December 31, 1949, in Rome, New York) is an American equestrian who competes in the sport of eventing. He grew up in a family uninterested in horses, but began to compete in Pony Club events after a family friend introduced him to riding. He began college at Iowa State University, but left in his third year to train full-time with the United States Equestrian Team. In 1974, he married, and his two children were born in 1976 and 1977. His son, Bruce Davidson Jr., has followed in his footsteps to become a top eventing rider. At 18, Davidson tried out for the United States eventing team and was accepted. He won his first medal as a member of the silver-medal-winning US team at the 1972 Summer Olympics. After that, Davidson went to win gold at the 1976 and 1984 Olympics and silver in 1996, participating unsuccessfully in 1988. This event has its roots in a comprehensive cavalry test that required mastery of several types of riding. Rolex Kentucky Three Day
The Kentucky Three-Day Event, currently the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event due to sponsorship, is an eventing competition held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Land Rover Kentucky is a CCI5*-L eventing competition. Five stars is the highest level of competition in the sport, the same level of competition as Eventing at the Olympics and the World Equestrian Games. The event is sponsored by Land Rover. Prize money of $ is distributed among the top placings with $ as well as a Rolex watch awarded to the first place horse and rider. Although the event's name continues to reflect its roots as a three-day competition, the Kentucky Three-Day Event currently takes place over four days (Thursday through Sunday). Winsome Andante
Winsome Andante (April 6, 1993 - September 25, 2019) was an English imported crossbred eventer (84.5% Thoroughbred, 9.5% Arabian (horse), Arabian, and 6% Irish) who competed successfully to the highest levels of the sport of eventing. His rider, Kimberly Severson, rode him in many well-known events, and he won the Rolex Concours Complet International, CCI**** a record three times. He also competed at the Burghley Horse Trials, as well as in the Olympic Games, Olympics and the World Equestrian Games. "Dan" was strong in all three phases. He usually won or placed among the top horses in the dressage, followed by a fast, clean cross-country run and a good show jumping round. He stood {{hands, 16.1.
