Downtown YMCA
The Downtown YMCA is a historic YMCA building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It is the largest YMCA resident facility in the United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The seven-story building was designed in the Jacobethan Revival and Late Gothic Revival styles by Walter F. Shattuck. History The YMCA was first established in Columbus in 1855, reorganized in 1875, and moved locations numerous times. One of these locations was at 34 S. 3rd St., a Yost & Packard building, now the site of the Columbus Dispatch Building. Franklinton is a Neighborhoods in Columbus, Ohio, neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, just west of Downtown Columbus, Ohio, its downtown. Settled in 1797, Franklinton is the first American settlement in Franklin County, Ohio, Franklin County, and was the county seat until 1824. Franklin University is a private university with its main campus in Columbus, Ohio. It was founded in 1902 to serve the needs of adult students. The Columbus Dispatch Building is a historic building on Capitol Square in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. The building was home to the ''Columbus Dispatch'' newspaper offices until January 2016, when it moved to 62 E. Broad St. on Capitol Square. Yost & Packard
Yost & Packard was an architectural firm based in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The firm included partners Joseph W. Yost and Frank Packard. It was founded in 1892 and continued until Yost moved to New York City in 1899, after which Packard took up practice in his own name. The firm was known for many public buildings, and the prolific use of masonry, especially Berea sandstone, along with tile roofs with flared eaves, polygonal turrets, and intricate ornamentation.
