Downfield F.C.
Downfield Football Club are a Scottish junior football club based in the Downfield area of Dundee. Their home ground is Downfield Park. History The club's nickname, "The Spiders", comes from the same term applied to Queen's Park, due to Downfield playing in the same narrow black-and-white hooped strips as Scotland's oldest club. When Downfield were first founded, Queen's donated a set of strips to them to assist with the start-up. Downfield Park is situated in the Kirkton area of Dundee. The far side has a covered enclosure named after Eric Clark, a long-serving committee member now deceased. The south side of the ground contains the club's Social Club, incorporating the changing facilities. The west end has recently seen a flattening of the earth banking at that end, with a view to eventual construction of new facilities. The Scottish Junior Cup is an annual football competition organised by the Scottish Junior Football Association. The competition has been held every year since the inception of the SJFA in 1886 and, as of the 2022–23 edition, 108 teams compete in the tournament. Lewis Toshney (born 26 April 1992) is a Scottish professional footballer and coach, who is currently playing for Downfield. Toshney has previously played for Celtic, Ross County, Cowdenbeath, Raith Rovers, Kilmarnock, Brechin City, Dundee United, Dundee, Falkirk, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Edinburgh City. The Scottish Junior Football Association East Region Premiership, also known for sponsorship reasons as the McBookie.com East Premiership, was the highest division of the East Region of the Scottish Junior Football Association. From its inception in 2002 until 2020, it was known as the SJFA East Region Super League. The East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) is a senior football league based in the east and south-east of Scotland. The league sits at levels 6–9 on the Scottish football league system, acting as a feeder to the Lowland Football League. Tayport, also known as Ferry-Port on Craig, is a town and burgh, and parish, in the county of Fife, Scotland, acting as a commuter town for Dundee. The motto of the Burgh is ''Te oportet alte ferri'' ("It is incumbent on you to carry yourself high"), a pun on ''Tayport at auld Tay Ferry''. Tayport lies close to the north east tip of Fife.
