Down In The Flood
"Down in the Flood" is a song by Bob Dylan, originally recorded by Dylan in 1967 with the Band, and copyrighted that autumn. One of the 1967 recordings was released on the 1975 album ''The Basement Tapes'' and re-released in 2014 on '' The Bootleg Series Vol. 11: The Basement Tapes Complete'', along with a preceding take. Dylan re-recorded the song with Happy Traum in September 1971 using slightly different chords for inclusion on ''Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. II''. A live version performed with the Band in the early hours of January 1, 1972 was released on the 2001 reissue of the Band's ''Rock Of Ages''. Dylan's July 2002 re-recording of the song featured on the album, '' Masked & Anonymous: Music from the Motion Picture'', the soundtrack to the 2003 film ''Masked & Anonymous''. Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. Often regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture during a career spanning more than 60 years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" (1963) and " The Times They Are a-Changin' (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. His lyrics during this period incorporated a range of political, social, philosophical, and literary influences, defying pop music conventions and appealing to the burgeoning counterculture. It was compiled from recordings made during their series of shows at the Academy of Music in New York City, from December 28 through December 31, 1971. ''New Blood'' is the fifth album by the band Blood, Sweat & Tears, released in October 1972. With David Clayton-Thomas leaving as lead vocalist to pursue a solo career after the release of '' BS&T 4'', a nearly wholesale personnel change occurred for ''New Blood''. Difficulties had arisen inside the group between its pop-rock and jazz factions, with Clayton-Thomas choosing to leave in early January 1972, along with founding member Fred Lipsius. Clayton-Thomas was briefly replaced by Bobby Doyle, and a photo of the band appeared in Down Beat showing a new lineup also including noted jazz saxophonist Joe Henderson. By the time the album was recorded, Jerry Fisher had become the new singer replacing Doyle (who guested on piano on "Touch Me" and "Velvet"), whilst founding member Dick Halligan also departed, as well as Henderson. Blood, Sweat & Tears (also known as "BS&T") is a jazz rock music group founded in New York City in 1967, noted for a combination of brass with rock instrumentation. Sandy Denny
Alexandra Elene MacLean Denny (6 January 1947 – 21 April 1978) was an English singer who was lead singer of the British folk rock band Fairport Convention. She has been described as "the pre-eminent British folk rock singer". After briefly working with the Strawbs, Denny joined Fairport Convention in 1968, remaining with them until 1969. She formed the short-lived band Fotheringay in 1970, before focusing on a solo career. Between 1971 and 1977, Denny released four solo albums: ''The North Star Grassman and the Ravens'', '' Sandy'', '' Like an Old Fashioned Waltz'' and '' Rendezvous''. She also duetted with Robert Plant on "The Battle of Evermore" for Led Zeppelin's album ''Led Zeppelin IV'' in 1971. ''Music from the Motion Picture'' is an album by 10,000 Maniacs. The album, their first full-length in 14 years, contains eleven original songs. This album is the first to feature guitarist Jeff Erickson since he took over for Robert Buck following his death in 2000, and the first Maniacs album to feature Mary Ramsey without her longtime music partner, John Lombardo. Happy Traum (born Harry Peter Traum, May 9, 1938, The Bronx, New York) is an American folk musician who started playing music in the 1950s and became a stalwart of the Greenwich Village music scene of the 1960s and the Woodstock music scene of the 1970s and 1980s. For several years, he studied blues guitar with Brownie McGhee, who was a big influence on his guitar style. Happy is most famously known as one half of Happy and Artie Traum, a duo he began with his brother.
