Dover Records
Dover Records was a British record label that was formed about 1989. One of the recordings was a celebration of Arsenal winning the 1989 League Division One with "We're Back (Where We Belong)" single. Recordings on the Dover label released compilations related to the magazine ''Smash Hits'', starting with ''Smash Hits Party '89''. Dover was a subsidiary of Chrysalis Records and incorporated another Chrysalis offshoot, Flutterby Records. The change-over from Flutterby to Dover was so messy that a single by Steeleye Span Steeleye Span are a British folk rock band formed in 1969 in England by Fairport Convention bass player Ashley Hutchings and established London folk club duo Tim Hart and Maddy Prior. ''Smash Hits'' was a British music magazine aimed at young adults, originally published by EMAP. It ran from 1978 to 2006, and, after initially appearing monthly, was issued fortnightly during most of that time. The name survived as a brand for a Spin-off (media), spin-off Smash Hits (TV channel), digital television channel, now named Box Hits, and website. A Smash Hits Radio, digital radio station was also available but closed on 5 August 2013. Overview ''Smash Hits'' featured the lyrics of latest hits and interviews with big names in music. It was initially published monthly, then went fortnightly. The style of the magazine was initially serious, but from the mid-1980s became increasingly irreverent. Chrysalis Records
Chrysalis Records () is a British record label that was founded in 1968. The name is both a reference to the pupal stage of a butterfly and a combination of its founders' names, Chris Wright and Terry Ellis. It started as the Ellis-Wright Agency. History Early years In an interview for Jethro Tull's video ''20 Years of Jethro Tull'', released in 1988, Wright states "''Chrysalis Records'' might have come into being anyway, you never know what might have happened, but ''Chrysalis Records'' really came into being because Jethro Tull couldn't get a record deal and MGM couldn't even get their name right on the record". Steeleye Span
Steeleye Span are a British folk rock band formed in 1969 in England by Fairport Convention bass player Ashley Hutchings and established London folk club duo Tim Hart and Maddy Prior. The band were part of the 1970s British folk revival, and were commercially successful in that period, with four Top 40 albums and two hit singles: "Gaudete" and "All Around My Hat (song), All Around My Hat". Steeleye Span have seen many personnel changes; Maddy Prior being the only remaining original member of the band. Their musical repertoire consists of mostly traditional songs with one or two instrumental tracks of jigs and/or reel (dance), reels added; the traditional songs often include some of the Child Ballads. In their later albums there has been an increased tendency to include music written by the band members, but they have never moved completely away from traditional music, which draws upon pan-British traditions.
