Douglaston–Little Neck, Queens
Douglaston–Little Neck is a neighborhood in the northeastern part of the New York City borough of Queens. The community is located on the North Shore of Long Island, bordered to the east by the region of Great Neck in Nassau County, to the south by Glen Oaks and the North Shore Towers, and to the west by Bayside. The neighborhood is composed of two main sections. Little Neck is generally used to refer to the area east of Marathon Parkway and/or north of Northern Boulevard, while Douglaston is the rest of the neighborhood; these classifications may overlap depending on different interpretations of neighborhood boundaries. Each of these areas has several subsections. Area Code 917
Area code 917 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan for the five boroughs of New York City: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. It is an overlay code to all numbering plan areas (NPAs) in the city, and was intended to serve cellular, pager, and voicemail applications in the city, a restriction that was subsequently ruled impermissible by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) while grandfathering that use in New York City. Area code 917 is also assigned to landlines predominantly in Manhattan, to relieve the shortage of numbers there. Allen-Beville House
The Allen-Beville House is a historic house on the Little Neck peninsula in the Douglaston neighborhood of Queens, New York City. Constructed between 1848 and 1850, it is one of the few surviving 19th century structures in Queens built as a farmhouse that survives. ''See also:'' The site was inherited by Daniel K. Allen from his uncle, Richard Allen. Originally a farm of , he had purchased the land from Elijah Allen, Philip Allen and Cornelius Van Wyck prior to 1820. In 1847, Benjamin Allen acquired the site and built the house. In the late 19th century, William P. Douglas, for whom Douglaston was named, purchased the home for use as a guest home for his estate, which was the original Douglaston Club building. When the clubhouse burned in 1917, the architects used this house as a model to create the current club. Douglaston Hill Historic District
Douglaston Hill Historic District is a national historic district in Douglaston, Queens, New York. It includes 83 contributing buildings and two contributing sites. The buildings include Zion Episcopal Church (1830), houses and garages, and commercial buildings. The sites are Zion cemetery and public park. It was laid out with very large lots in 1853, at the very beginning of a movement in the United States to create suburban gardens. The buildings include a number of fine examples of late-19th- and early 20th-century architectural styles such as Queen Anne, Shingle Style, and Colonial Revival. Douglaston Historic District
Douglaston Historic District is a national historic district in Douglaston, Queens, New York. It includes 631 contributing buildings and three contributing sites on a mile-long peninsula extending into Little Neck Bay. All but one of the buildings are in residential use and the majority were built in the early- to mid-20th century as a planned suburban community known as Douglas Manor. In the early 20th century, the Rickert-Finlay Realty Company of Manhattan purchased of the Douglas' family holdings, and formed the Douglas Manor Association, creating a planned community. Many of the houses in this area were built in architectural styles popular at the time, such as Tudor, Mediterranean, Colonial Revival, and Arts and Crafts. Located within the district are the separately listed Cornelius Van Wyck House (c. 1735) and Allen-Beville House (c. 1848-1850). Northern Boulevard
New York State Route 25A (NY 25A) is a state highway on Long Island in New York, United States. It serves as the main east–west route for most of the North Shore of Long Island, running for from Interstate 495 (I-495) at the Queens–Midtown Tunnel in the New York City borough of Queens to NY 25 in Calverton, Suffolk County. The highway is a northern alternate route of NY 25, which follows a more inland routing along Jericho Turnpike. Bayside is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens. It is bounded by Whitestone to the northwest, the Long Island Sound and Little Neck Bay to the northeast, Douglaston to the east, Oakland Gardens to the south, and Fresh Meadows to the west. North Shore Towers
The North Shore Towers and Country Club is a three-building residential cooperative located in the Glen Oaks neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens, near the city's border with Nassau County. The complex is located next to the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. The three constituent residential buildings—Amherst, Beaumont, and Coleridge Towers—which sit on a property, are some of the tallest structures in Queens with 34 floors each. The towers are constructed on the highest point of land in Queens County, a hill located above sea level. This hill is part of the terminal moraine of the last glacial period. Glen Oaks is a neighborhood in the easternmost part of the New York City borough of Queens. The neighborhood is part of Queens Community Board 13. Location Glen Oaks lies between Grand Central Parkway and Nassau County to the north, Union Turnpike to the south, the Queens/Nassau border (Lakeville Road) to the east, and the Cross Island Parkway to the west.
