Douglas Pipes
Douglas Pipes is an American film score composer whose feature films include the Academy Award-nominated '' Monster House'', the horror film ''Trick 'r Treat'', and the Christmas comedy-horror film ''Krampus''. His brassy instrumentations have drawn comparisons to action-music composer guru Alan Silvestri and his other orchestral-music composer counterparts Michael Giacchino, J.A.C. Redford and Joel McNeely. His chance encounter with Gil Kenan at UCLA California made him the perfect composer for this soundtrack and composed the music on his short film ''The Lark''. Awards include International Film Music Critics Association "Best Original Score for a Comedy Film 2015" for the Horror/Comedy ''Krampus'', "Compositor Revalacion" for ''Monster House'' at the 3rd International Film Music Conference in Ubeda, Spain and "Best Animation” at the Royal Television Society in the United Kingdom. Film Score
A film score is original music written specifically to accompany a film. The score comprises a number of orchestral, instrumental, or choral pieces called cues, which are timed to begin and end at specific points during the film in order to enhance the dramatic narrative and the emotional impact of the scene in question. Scores are written by one or more composers under the guidance of or in collaboration with the film's director or producer and are then most often performed by an ensemble of musicians – usually including an orchestra (most likely a symphony orchestra) or band, instrumental soloists, and choir or vocalists – known as playback singers – and recorded by a sound engineer. The term is less frequently applied to music written for other media such as live theatre, television and radio programs, and video game, and said music is typically referred to as either the soundtrack or incidental music. ''The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog'' is a 1927 British silent thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring Marie Ault, Arthur Chesney, June Tripp, Malcolm Keen and Ivor Novello. Hitchcock's third feature film, it was released on 14 February 1927 in London and on 10 June 1928 in New York City. The film is based on the 1913 novel '' The Lodger'' by Marie Belloc Lowndes and the play ''Who Is He?'' co-written by Belloc Lowndes. Its plot concerns the hunt for a Jack the Ripper-like serial killer in London. Hitchcock's first thriller, the film established him as a name director. Upon its release the trade journal ''Bioscope'' wrote: "It is possible that this film is the finest British production ever made". It also saw Hitchcock make his first cameo appearances in a film; he was depicted sitting in a newsroom, and in the second, standing in a crowd as the leading man is arrested.
