Doug Baker (baseball)
Douglas Lee Baker (born April 3, 1961) is a former infielder in Major League Baseball (MLB) player who played with the Detroit Tigers from 1984–1987 and the Minnesota Twins from 1988–1990. Baker played in 136 Major League games and had a .207 batting average with 51 hits, 38 runs, 22 runs batted in, and 11 doubles. Baker was the younger brother of Dave Baker who also played in the Major Leagues. In high school, Doug Baker played for Granada Hills and one of his teammates was future Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway. Pro career Baker was first selected by the Oakland Athletics in the ninth round of the 1981 MLB draft. He did not sign with Oakland, then later transferred from Los Angeles Valley Community college to Arizona State. In the June Draft of 1982, Baker was selected again, this time in the ninth round by the Detroit Tigers. Doug Baker (rugby Union)
Douglas George Santley Baker (29 November 1929 – 21 December 2022) was an English rugby union player, most notable for taking part in the 1955 British Lions tour to South Africa. Biography Baker was born in Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, Spain. He was educated at Merchant Taylors' School and Oxford University, gaining Blues in 1951 and 1952. He also played for his school's old boys club Old Merchant Taylors' FC. In 1953/54, he played against New Zealand for both London Counties and South-Eastern Counties. He was invited to play for the Barbarian F.C. and played for them eight times between 1953 and 1957, scoring a total of 20 points for the side. His test debut for England was against Wales at Cardiff, 22 January 1955. He was capped four times for England as a fly-half in 1955. Douglas Albert Baker Sr. (April 19, 1934 – October 20, 2014) was an American professional wrestler and actor, better known professionally as Ox Baker. He was famous for his distinctive eyebrows and finishing move, the Heart Punch, sometimes called the "Hurt Punch", after Baker's famous catchphrase "I love to hurt people!". He appeared in several movies including '' Blood Circus'' and ''Escape from New York''. Early life Baker was an accomplished high school athlete in his adopted hometown of Waterloo, Iowa, but he quit school.
