Doug Young (actor)
Douglas Hiram Young (December 21, 1919 – January 7, 2018) was an American voice actor who worked on radio programs and in animated cartoons. Biography Young was born in Los Angeles, California, on December 21, 1919. Early in his career, Young appeared in classic radio shows including ''The Cisco Kid'', ''The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes'', ''Red Ryder'' and ''The Whistler''. He was also the announcer on the syndicated radio comedy ''The Anderson Family,'' which starred fellow cartoon voice artist Walter Tetley, and aired from 1946 to 1948. Young later went to work for Hanna-Barbera; a master of accent and dialect, he often based his voices on those of famous performers, such as Jimmy Durante and Buddy Hackett. Peter Potamus is a purple animated hippopotamus that first appeared in the 1964–1966 animated television series ''The Peter Potamus Show'', produced by Hanna-Barbera and first broadcast on September 16, 1964. ''The Peter Potamus Show'' was divided into three segments: ''Peter Potamus and So-So'', ''Breezly and Sneezly'' and ''Yippee, Yappee and Yahooey''. ''Peter Potamus'' was a companion series to ''The Magilla Gorilla Show''. Both series premiered in first-run syndication before being picked up by ABC in January 1966. ''Laurel and Hardy'' is a 1966-1967 American animated television series and an updated version of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy's comedic acts by the animation studio Hanna-Barbera and Larry Harmon Productions. Harmon had been developing the series since 1961, while Stan Laurel was still alive, although Laurel had very little involvement. A total of 156 shorts were made, each having its own opening and closing wrap-arounds, to make them easy to air in syndication. As Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel had died in 1957 and 1965 respectively, Jim MacGeorge provided the voice of Ollie, while Harmon voiced Stan. ''The Magilla Gorilla Show'' is an American animated television series starring Magilla Gorilla. The series was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions for Screen Gems, and was originally sponsored in syndication by Ideal Toys from 1964 through 1967. The show had other recurring characters, including Punkin' Puss & Mushmouse, and Ricochet Rabbit & Droop-a-Long. In syndication, the main and supporting characters from the ''Peter Potamus'' show were also added. Prior to the show's launch, the show made an interview on their "upcoming" series in between the middle-and-late December 1963 on first-run syndication entitled ''Here Comes A Star''. ''The Huckleberry Hound Show'' is an American animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, and the second series produced by the studio following ''The Ruff and Reddy Show''. The show first aired in syndication on September 29, 1958, and was sponsored by Kellogg's. Three segments were included in the program: one featuring Huckleberry Hound, another starring Yogi Bear and his sidekick Boo Boo, and a third with Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks, which starred two mice who in each short found a new way to outwit the cat Mr. Jinks. The series last aired on December 1, 1961. The ''Yogi Bear'' segment of the show became extremely popular, and as a result, it spawned its own series in 1960. Voice actor Daws Butler performed the show's title character, Quick Draw McGraw. The show debuted in syndication on September 28, 1959, ended its run on October 20, 1961, and was sponsored by Kellogg's. The series featured three cartoons per episode, with Quick Draw and his sidekick Baba Looey appearing in the first segment, father and son dog duo Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy in the second, and cat and mouse detectives Snooper and Blabber in the third. John Stephenson (actor)
John Winfield Stephenson (August 9, 1923 – May 15, 2015) was an American actor, most active in voice-over roles. He has also been credited as John Stevenson. Stephenson never gave any interviews and was rarely seen in public, although he did make an appearance at BotCon 2001. Early life Stephenson was from Kenosha, Wisconsin, the oldest son of Ray and Martha Stephenson. He went to Ripon College and was active in campus drama. Stephenson wanted to be a lawyer and studied at the University of Wisconsin Law School. After serving in the United States Army Air Forces, as a gunner and radio operator, during World War II, John Stephenson graduated from Northwestern University with a master's degree in Speech and Drama in 1948. In 1946, during his studies, he gained an acting role on an episode of a drama radio series on WBKB. Death Stephenson died of Alzheimer's disease, aged 91 on May 15, 2015.
