Douglas Murray (author)
Douglas Kear Murray (born 16 July 1979) is a British author and political commentator. He founded the Centre for Social Cohesion in 2007, which became part of the Henry Jackson Society, where he was associate director from 2011 to 2018. He is also an associate editor of the conservative-leaning British political and cultural magazine ''The Spectator''. Murray has also written columns for publications such as ''The Wall Street Journal''. Douglas Murray is an American comic book writer and novelist. He served as a non-commissioned officer in the Army in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He worked as a writer for ''The Monster Times'' newspaper in the early 1970s, and later as a Marvel Comics writer from 1984 to 1991. He was the main writer on the popular 1980s comic book series ''The 'Nam'', published by Marvel. In the 1970s, Murray edited ''Heritage'', a 2-issue fanzine dedicated to ''Flash Gordon'', a ''Neal Adams Index'' (1974) and two separate ''ACBA Sketchbook'' publications (in 1973 and 1975 respectively). Born and raised in New York, Doug grew up on Long Island in Lindenhurst, New York. He was always a mega-collector of science fiction books, pulps, monster magazines and all sorts of movie memorabilia. Douglas Thomas Lars Murray (born March 12, 1980), nickname "Crankshaft", is a Swedish former professional ice hockey defenceman. He was drafted in the 8th round, 241st overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. On March 13, 2015, Murray joined the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL) on a tryout basis. Early life Murray's Swedish mother is a daughter of Lars Björn, an ice hockey defenceman, twice World champion and an Olympic bronze-medalist. His father's ancestors originate from Scotland. While his cousins all have Swedish names, his parents gave their children Scottish or English names. Murray's brothers are named Charles and Ted, with a sister named Roseanna. Murray attended Portledge School in Locust Valley, New York, for his junior and senior years of high school, and played for the New York Apple Core in nearby Long Beach, before attending Cornell University.
