Doug Booth
Douglas Booth (born 1 August 1957) is an Australian academic and former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He is dean of the School of Physical Education at the University of Otago. Football career A recruit from East Brighton, Booth was part of a memorable win on his senior debut. Selected as one of St Kilda's reserves for their round 12 fixture against ladder leaders Hawthorn at Princes Park, Booth got his first taste of league football when he was called onto the field as a replacement Wayne Judson. Early in the third quarter St Kilda trailed by 44 points, but were spurred by the sight of rover Paul Callery being knocked unconscious, and came back to upset Hawthorn with a 25-point win. He had to wait until round 16 to make his next appearance, a win over Collingwood at Victoria Park, in which he contributed two goals. East Brighton Football Club
The East Brighton Football Netball Club is an Australian rules football and netball club located in the southern suburbs of Melbourne. The club, nicknamed ''The Vampires'', was established in 1948, joining the Caulfield District Football League that year. The club was a founding member of the South East Suburban Football League in 1963 and of the Southern Football League in 1992 where the club currently competes in the first division. East Brighton played its first four years at Dendy Park before relocating to its current home at Hurlingham Park in 1952. AFL Tribunal
The AFL Tribunal is the disciplinary tribunal of the Australian Football League (AFL), an Australian rules football competition. The Tribunal regulates the conduct of players, umpires, and other officials associated with the AFL and its clubs. Points system Prior to 2005, any player who was reported would face a hearing at the AFL Tribunal. This process had become problematic, and in 2005, a new system (similar to that used by the NRL Judiciary at the time) was adopted. The changes were primarily made to reduce the number of tribunal hearings, and to improve the consistency of penalties. University Of Natal
The University of Natal was a university in the former South African province Natal which later became KwaZulu-Natal. The University of Natal no longer exists as a distinct legal entity, as it was incorporated into the University of KwaZulu-Natal on 1 January 2004. It was founded in 1910 as the Natal University College in Pietermaritzburg and expanded to include a campus in Durban in 1931. The AFL Grand Final Sprint is a sprint running race contested by AFL players as part of the on-field entertainment on the day of the AFL Grand Final. The sprint was held each year from 1979 until 1985 and again in 1987 (when the league was known as the Victorian Football League), and then again every year since 2002. Queen's Birthday Clash
The King's Birthday match is an annual Australian rules football match between the Melbourne Football Club and Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on the King's Birthday public holiday in Victoria (the second Monday in June). Since 2015, the match has been preceded by the Big Freeze, a charitable event raising funds into research for motor neuron disease (MND). The event sees celebrities slide into a pool of ice water as a curtain-raiser to the match. 1982 VFL Season
The 1982 VFL season was the 86th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 20 March until 25 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. The season saw the VFL establish its first permanent interstate presence, as the South Melbourne Football Club (which was known after June just as the Swans, being renamed Sydney the following year) played all of its home games on Sunday afternoons in Sydney, New South Wales.
