Doubs's 3rd Constituency
The 3rd constituency of Doubs (French language, French: ''Troisième circonscription du Doubs'') is one of five electoral districts in the Departments of France, department of the same name, each of which returns one Deputy (legislator), deputy to the National Assembly (France), French National Assembly in elections using the two-round system, with a run-off if no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote in the first round. Description The constituency is made up of the eight Cantons of France#History, former Cantons of France, cantons of Baume-les-Dames, Clerval, L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs, Maîche, Montbéliard-Est, Montbéliard-Ouest, Rougemont, and Saint-Hippolyte. It includes the town of Montbéliard and nearly surrounds the Doubs' 4th constituency, department's 4th constituency. In the east it reaches deep into the Jura mountains, where it is bordered by Switzerland. Franche-Comté
Franche-Comté (, ; ; Frainc-Comtou: ''Fraintche-Comtè''; frp, Franche-Comtât; also german: Freigrafschaft; es, Franco Condado; all ) is a cultural and historical region of eastern France. It is composed of the modern departments of Doubs, Jura, Haute-Saône and the Territoire de Belfort. In 2016, its population was 1,180,397. From 1956 to 2015, the Franche-Comté was a French administrative region. Since 1 January 2016, it has been part of the new region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The region is named after the ' (Free County of Burgundy), definitively separated from the region of Burgundy proper in the fifteenth century. In 2016, these two-halves of the historic Kingdom of Burgundy were reunited, as the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. It is also the 6th biggest region in France.
