Double Exposure (1982 Film)
''Double Exposure'' is a 1982 American horror film written and directed by William Byron Hillman, co-produced by Michael Callan, and starring Callan, Joanna Pettet, James Stacy, and Seymour Cassel. It is a loose remake of the 1974 film ''The Photographer'', which was also written and directed by Hillman, produced by Deming, and starring Callan. The film follows a photographer who starts to experience dreams in which he murders the models he photographs. Cast Production The film was shot in early 1981. According to Cleavon Little, "all the actors got points in the project instead of real big salaries." Release ''Double Exposure'' was given a regional limited release, opening in Indiana on September 3, 1982. William Byron Hillman
William Byron Hillman is a film director, film producer, screenwriter, actor, and author known for his work on such films as '' The Photographer'' (1974), ''Double Exposure'' (1982), and '' Quigley'' (2003). Career According to Hillman, after having attended Oklahoma Military Academy and UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, he became an assistant to Harold Hecht, whom he met while on a casting call at Universal Studios. He was hired as a production assistant on the 1964 film ''Wild and Wonderful'', wherein he was tasked with grooming and dyeing a number of dogs. His first acting role was a part in the 1968 film ''Ice Station Zebra''. Cellulose acetate film, or safety film, is used in photography as a base material for photographic emulsions. It was introduced in the early 20th century by film manufacturers and intended as a safe film base replacement for unstable and highly flammable nitrate film. Cellulose diacetate film was first created by the German chemists Arthur Eichengrün and Theodore Becker, who patented it under the name Cellit, from a process they devised in 1901 for the direct acetylation of cellulose at a low temperature to prevent its degradation, which permitted the degree of acetylation to be controlled, thereby avoiding total conversion to its triacetate. Cellit was a stable, non-brittle cellulose acetate polymer that could be dissolved in acetone for further processing.
