Northwestern Pacific Railroad
The Northwestern Pacific Railroad is a regional shortline railroad utilizing a stretch of the 271 mile mainline between Schellville and Windsor with freight and Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) commuter trains. Laytonville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Mendocino County, California, United States. It is located north-northwest of Willits, at an elevation of . The population was 1,152 at the 2020 census, down from 1,227 at the 2010 census. Geography Laytonville is located in northern Mendocino County at . It is in the Long Valley, drained to the north by Tenmile Creek, a tributary of the South Fork of the Eel River. The headwaters of the South Fork are south of Laytonville. The Dos Rios AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in northern Mendocino County, California. The appellation is located near the confluence of the Eel River and the Middle Fork of the Eel River. The name of the appellation is Spanish for "two rivers". The location would have a warm climate if not for constant breezes from the Pacific Ocean. The soil in Dos Rios is more infertile than other regions in the county.
