Dos Madres Press is a small press based in Loveland, Ohio. The press, founded in 2004, specializes in books of poetry. Loveland, Ohio
Loveland is a city in Hamilton, Clermont, and Warren counties in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. Considered part of the Greater Cincinnati area, Loveland is located near exit 52 off Interstate 275, about northeast of the Cincinnati city limits. It borders Symmes, Miami and Hamilton Townships and straddles the Little Miami River. The population was 12,081 at the 2010 census and was estimated at 13,145 in 2019. Once a busy railroad town, Loveland is now a major stop along the Little Miami Scenic Trail. History The city is named after James Loveland, who operated a general store and post office near the railroad tracks downtown. It was incorporated as a village on May 12 or 16, 1876, and incorporated as a chartered city in 1961. Norman Finkelstein (poet)
Norman Finkelstein (born 1954) is an American poet and literary critic. He has written extensively about modern and postmodern poetry and about Jewish American literature. According to ''Tablet Magazine'', Finkelstein's poetry "is simultaneously secular and religious, stately and conversational, prophetic, and circumspect." Finkelstein was born in New York City. He earned his B.A. from Binghamton University and his Ph.D. from Emory University. Richard Hague
Richard Hague (born 1947) is an American poet and writer. Born August 7, he was raised in Steubenville, Ohio, in Appalachian Ohio's Steel Valley, where he worked summers for Wheeling Steel and the Penn Central Railroad. He studied as a high school student at Northwestern University's Summer High School Journalism Institute and as an adult in Oxford, England on a six-week NEH Seminar. His BS and MA degrees in English are from Xavier University in Cincinnati. He continues to teach writing to adults and young people in Cincinnati. He is former Chair of the English Department at Purcell Marian High School where the Writing Program he designed and administered won the National First Prize in The English-Speaking Union "Excellence in English Award" in 1994.Since 2015 he has served as Writer-in-Residence at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. Michael Heller (poet)
Michael Heller (born May 11, 1937), is an American poet, essayist and critic. Among his many books are ''Exigent Futures'', ''In The Builded Place'', ''Wordflow'' and ''Living Root: A Memoir''. He wrote the libretto for the opera, ''Benjamin'', based on the life of Walter Benjamin. He is recipient of awards including the NEH Poet/Scholar grant, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship (NYFA), National Endowment for the Humanities award, and The Fund for Poetry. Overview Heller is recognized as a leading expert on Objectivist poets, poetry, and poetics. Roald Hoffmann
Roald Hoffmann (born Roald Safran; July 18, 1937) is a Polish Americans, Polish-American theoretical chemistry, theoretical chemist who won the 1981 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He has also published plays and poetry. He is the Frank H. T. Rhodes Professor of Humane Letters, Emeritus, at Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York. Keith Holyoak
Keith James Holyoak (born January 16, 1950) is a Canadian-American researcher in cognitive psychology and cognitive science, working on human thinking and reasoning. Holyoak's work focuses on the role of analogy in thinking. His work showed how analogy can be used to enhance learning of new abstract concepts by both children and adults, as well as how reasoning breaks down in cases of brain damage. Holyoak is also a poet. Burt Joseph Kimmelman (born May 5, 1947) is an American poet and scholar. Life and work Born and raised in New York City after World War Two, Burt Kimmelman has published eleven collections of poetry. His poetry is often anthologized and was featured on The Writer's Almanac radio program. He has been the subject of a number of published interviews. Patricia Monaghan (February 15, 1946, – November 11, 2012) was a poet, a writer, a spiritual activist, and an influential figure in the contemporary women's spirituality movement. Monaghan wrote over 20 books on a range of topics including Goddess spirituality, earth spirituality, Celtic mythology, the landscape of Ireland, and techniques of meditation. Eileen Tabios (born 1960) is a Filipino-American poet, fiction writer, conceptual/visual artist, editor, anthologist, critic, and publisher. Early life Born in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, Tabios moved to the United States at the age of ten. She earned a B.A. in political science from Barnard College in 1982 and an M.B.A. in economics and international business from New York University Stern School of Business.
