Dorofei
Dorofei (or Dorotheus russian: Дорофей) (2004–2014) was a rare Neva Masquerade (Siberian (cat), Siberian breed) cat with blue eyes belonging to former President of Russia, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his wife Svetlana Medvedeva. Dorofei took over the title of ''First Pet'' from Vladimir Putin, Vladimir Putin's black labrador Koni (dog), Koni, when Medvedev was inaugurated on 7 May 2008. Early life Dorofei was born in 2004. The Neva Masquerade breed comes from Saint Petersburg, however Dorofei was bred by the ''Great Hunter'' breeding company in Moscow. Svetlana Medvedeva bought Dorofei from the breeders as a kitten, and took him back to Saint Petersburg. Neva Masquerades with a good pedigree can cost up to twenty thousand Russian rubles. ''Noviye Izvestiya'' reported that Dorofei once got into a fight with a cat belonging to Mikhail Gorbachev, who was Medvedev's neighbour. The Siberian is a centuries-old landrace (natural variety) of domestic cat in Russia and recently developed as a formal Cat breed, breed with standards promulgated the world over since the late 1980s. Siberians vary from medium to medium-large in size. The formal name of the breed is Siberian Forest Cat, but it is typically referred to as the Siberian or Siberian cat. Another formal breed name is the Moscow Semi-Longhair. The cat is an ancient breed that is now believed to be ancestral to all modern long-haired cats. Konni (russian: Конни, 1999 – 2014), full name Connie Leod Paulgrave (), also known as Connie, was a female black Labrador Retriever belonging to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Konni was often seen at the President's side, including at staff meetings, and when Putin greeted world leaders during their visits to Russia. Family Konni, full name Connie Paulgrave, was born in 1999 at a cynology centre located at the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Noginsk, where she was to be trained as a search and rescue dog. Konni's parents were Henrietta Bush (mother) and Alkor Ross Bradford (father). In December 2000, Konni was presented to President Vladimir Putin as a gift by Sergei Shoigu.
