Dorival Caymmi (; April 30, 1914 – August 16, 2008) was a Brazilian singer, songwriter, actor, and painter active for more than 70 years, beginning in 1933. He contributed to the birth of Brazil's bossa nova movement, and several of his samba pieces, such as "''Samba da Minha Terra''", "''Doralice''" and "''Saudade da Bahia''", have become staples of ''música popular brasileira.'' Equally notable are his ballads celebrating the fishermen and women of Bahia, including "''Promessa de Pescador''", "''O Que É Que a Baiana Tem?''", and "''Milagre''". Caymmi composed about 100 songs in his lifetime, and many of his works are now considered to be Brazilian classics. Both Brazilian and non-Brazilian musicians have covered his songs. Dorival "Dori" Tostes Caymmi (born 26 August 1943) is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, guitarist, arranger, and producer. Biography Caymmi was born in Rio de Janeiro to parents who were musicians, his father Dorival Caymmi a composer and his mother Stella Maris a singer. When he was eight, he started piano lessons. At the Conservatório Lorenzo Fernandez, he studied music theory and harmony. He became a professional musician in 1959 when he accompanied his sister Nana in a performance. During the next year, he became a member of Grupo dos Sete and composed music for TV. He directed the play ''Opinião'' and performed on violão for it in 1964, contributing to the growth of música popular brasileira ( MPB). He worked as a producer for Eumir Deodato, Edu Lobo, and Nara Leão and as a composer with Nelson Motta. He and Motta were an effective songwriting duo. Dorival Silvestre Júnior (born 25 April 1962) is a Brazilian professional football coach and former player who played as a defensive midfielder. Playing career Known only as Júnior during his playing days, he was born in Araraquara, São Paulo, and made his debuts as a senior with hometown's Ferroviária in 1982. Two years later, after a brief stint at Marília, he moved to Guarani. In 1985, Júnior began playing in the state of Santa Catarina, first for Avaí and later for Joinville. In 1988, he went back to his native state, representing São José, but during the same year he moved to Coritiba. In 1989 Júnior joined Palmeiras, remaining with the club until 1992. Dorival Guidoni Júnior, known simply as Doriva (born 28 May 1972) is a Brazilian retired footballer who played as a central midfielder. From 2003 until 2006, he played for English Premier League club Middlesbrough, winning the 2004 League Cup and finishing as runner-up in the 2005–06 UEFA Cup. He retired due to a misdiagnosed heart condition while playing for Brazilian club América-SP in 2007. Jérôme Dorival (born in 1952) is a French clarinetist, composer and musicologist. Biography Born in Paris, Jérôme Dorival is one of the four sons of historian and art critic, Bernard Dorival. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Norbert Dufourcq and Rémy Stricker, and at the Sorbonne with Albert Soboul, Pierre Vilar, Dominique Julia and Alphonse Dupront. His doctoral thesis in musicology deals with ''La Cantatille en France au XVIII'', under the direction of Jacques Chailley. As a researcher, he devoted himself especially to the pianist and pedagogue Hélène de Montgeroult, professor at the brand new Conservatoire in 1795 and composer.
