Allen Dorfman
Allen Melnick Dorfman (January 6, 1923 – January 20, 1983) was an American insurance agency owner and a consultant to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) Central States Pension Fund. He was a close associate of longtime IBT President Jimmy Hoffa and associated with organized crime via the Chicago Outfit. Dorfman was convicted on several felony counts and was murdered in 1983. Irvin "Irv" Sherrod Dorfman (September 3, 1924 – October 8, 2006) was an outstanding amateur American tennis player in the 1940s and 1950s. He was ranked No. 15 in singles in the United States in 1947, and No. 3 in doubles in the U.S. in 1948. Early and personal life He was born in Brooklyn, the son of Belle and Nat Dorfman, and was Jewish. During World War 2, he was in the US Navy. He was married to Eileen Merl Dorfman and Jane Randall (originally Rosenbaum), with whom he had a daughter, Andrea Dorfman. He had a younger sister, Marcia Katz. Yechiel Michel Dorfman (1913 – 30 July 2006) was a rabbi and leader of the Breslov community in Jerusalem, Israel after serving as the de facto head of the Breslover Hasidim living in post-Stalinist Russia. Due to his persistence and planning, the annual Breslover Rosh Hashana kibbutz (prayer gathering) at the grave of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov in Uman, Ukraine, which began in 1811, continued in secret despite the Communist ban on religious gatherings. Biography Rabbi Dorfman was born in Kamenetz-Podolsk in western Ukraine and became a Breslover Hasid in his early teens. Irwin Dorfman, , (March 27, 1908 – November 9, 1993) was a Canadian lawyer from Winnipeg, Manitoba, eventually becoming senior counsel with the firm of Thompson Dorfman Sweatman.
