Doreen (, DAWR-een), also occasionally spelt Dorean or Dorine, is a feminine given name, usually found in English-speaking countries. It is a combination of Dora with the suffix -een, which is related to the -''ín'' suffix used in Irish, usually signifying small size or as an endearment. Dora is a variant of Dorothy / Dorothea, which derives from the Late Greek name ''Δωρόθεος'' (Dorotheos), which meant "gift of god" (from ''δῶρον''/doron meaning "gift" and ''θεός''/theos meaning "god". Doreen Lois Dodick (born February 17, 1932 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan) is a former politician in Manitoba, Canada. She was a New Democratic Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1981 to 1986. She was born Doreen Lois Oehlerking, the daughter of Edward John Oehlerking and Ima Cathine Annable, was educated in Saskatchewan, and subsequently moved to Manitoba. In 1952, she married John Dodick. She worked as an organizer for the NDP before entering political life herself. Doreen Edith Dominy Valiente (4 January 1922 – 1 September 1999) was an English Wiccan who was responsible for writing much of the early religious liturgy within the tradition of Gardnerian Wicca.
