Doppio Borgato is a Pedal piano made by joining a regular concert grand (Model L 282) with a second piano, activated by a pedal board with 37 pedals (A0 to A3), similar to that of the organ (P 398). Doppio Borgato 0029
Doppio espresso () is a double shot which is extracted using double the amount of ground coffee in a larger-sized portafilter basket. This results in of drink, double the amount of a single shot espresso. ''Doppio'' is Italian multiplier, meaning "double". It is commonly called a standard double, due to its standard in judging the espresso quality in barista competitions, where four single espresso are made using two double portafilters. A single shot of espresso, by contrast, is called a ''solo'' ("single") and was developed because it was the maximum amount of ground coffee that could practically be extracted by lever espresso machines. At most cafés outside of Italy, a doppio is the standard shot. Because solos require a smaller portafilter basket, solo shots are often produced by making ("pulling") a doppio in a two-spout portafilter and only serving one of the streams; the other stream may be discarded or used in another drink. Michael Glenn Williams
Michael Glenn Williams (born October 23, 1957 in Lancaster, California) is an American composer, pianist and technologist. Biography Williams' earliest years were spent in New York City, beginning trumpet studies and composing at 8 years old. At age 12 he was programming DEC PDP 8 minicomputers. He attended CSU Northridge as a dual major in composition and piano performance where he studied with Aurelio de la Vega, Daniel Kessner, Frank Campo, and Francoise Regnat. He pioneered composing for FM synthesis combined with music concrete and acoustic instruments. He did graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music as a composition major, where he taught undergraduate electronic music, and worked with Samuel Adler, Robert Morris, Warren Benson, pianist Rebecca Penneys, and briefly with Joseph Schwantner and David Burge. Piano
The piano is a stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early pianos used leather). Jean Guillou
Jean Victor Arthur Guillou (18 April 1930 – 26 January 2019) was a French composer, organist, pianist, and pedagogue. Titular Organist at Saint Eustache in Paris, from 1963 to 2015, he was widely known as a composer of instrumental and vocal music focused on the organ, as an improviser, and as an adviser to organ builders. For several decades he held regular master classes in Zurich and in Paris. Career Guillou was born in Angers. Following his first studies in piano and organ, he became the organist at the church St. Serge in Angers at the age of 12. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire under Marcel Dupré, Maurice Duruflé and Olivier Messiaen. Chaim Moshe Tzadik Palestine (born 1947), known professionally as Charlemagne Palestine, is an American visual artist and musician. He has been described as being one of the founders of New York school of minimalist music, first initiated by La Monte Young, Terry Riley, Philip Glass, Steve Reich and Phil Niblock, although he prefers to call himself a maximalist. Franco Oppo (2 October 1935 – 14 January 2016) was an Italian composer and scholar. Born in Nuoro, Oppo studied at the Conservatory of Cagliari, graduating in piano (1958), choral music and choral conducting (1960), and composition (1961). Since 1965 he won several international composition competitions. He was professor of composition and experimental composition at the Conservatory of Cagliari and professor of music theory at the Cagliari University. Andrea Morricone (born 10 October 1964) is an Italian composer and conductor, known for his film scores. He is the third child, and second son, of late composer and Academy Award winner Ennio Morricone. He composed the film scores for the American films '' Capturing the Friedmans'' and ''Liberty Heights''. Nimrod Borenstein ( he, נמרוד בורנשטיין; born in 1969) is a British-French-Israeli composer whose music is widely performed throughout Europe, the US, Canada, Australia and Japan. His works are becoming part of the repertoire of many ensembles and orchestras. Education Born in Tel Aviv, Nimrod Borenstein grew up in Paris where he started his musical education at the age of 3. In 1984 he became a Laureat of the Cziffra Foundation and subsequently moved to London in 1986 to pursue his studies as a violinist with Itzhak Rashkovsky at the Royal College of Music. He was then awarded the highest scholarship from the Leverhulme Trust to study composition with Paul Patterson at the Royal Academy. Giuseppe Lupis
Giuseppe Lupis (1896 – 1979) was an Italian journalist and socialist politician, a member of the Italian Democratic Socialist Party. He settled in the United States when Italy was under Fascist rule. Then he returned to Italy and held numerous cabinet posts. Early life and education Lupis was born in Ragusa on 28 March 1896. His family were part of the Sicilian branch of the Lupis, a local nobility, the barons of the Carrozziero in Ragusa. Career and activities During the Fascist rule in Italy Lupis went into exile in New York City together with Giuseppe Saragat. There Lupis edited a bilingual magazine entitled ''Il Mondo'' which was a biweekly publication established by him in 1939.
