Doopsgezinde Kerk, Haarlem
The Doopsgezinde kerk is a historical hidden Mennonite church dating from the 17th century between the Grote Houtstraat, Peuzelaarsteeg and the Frankestraat in Haarlem, Netherlands. History The church (also referred to as the ''Vermaning'') was built in 1683.Rijksmonument report The original entrance was a simple narrow door in the alley connecting the shopping street Grote Houtstraat to the Frankestraat, called the Peuzelaarsteeg, and through the purchase of a house in the Frankestraat a new, larger, entrance was created in 1717. In 1757 a group of members of the church, including Pieter Teyler van der Hulst, purchased a house on the Grote Houtstraat and created a modern but unobtrusive entrance with long hallway. In 1902 the Frankestraat entrance was renovated and new regents’ rooms were created in Jugendstil. Petrus Loosjes
Petrus Loosjes (20 November 1735, Zaandam – 12 January 1813, Haarlem), was an 18th-century writer and Mennonite minister from the Northern Netherlands. Biography He and his brother Cornelis Loosjes were the sons of Adriaan Loosjes the Elder (1689-1767). Adriaan, who was born and died in Westzaandam, originally was a lumber dealer but was chosen a Mennonite minister for his community in 1714, in which state he served until 1762. Petrus published his father's historical notes on the villages of the Zaanstreek in 1794. Petrus trained at the Amsterdam Mennonite Lamist Seminary from 1754-1759 and married Jozina (Sijtje) Oudt, also from Zaandam, in 1760 in his hometown. From 1759 to 1762 he was a preacher in Den Hoorn on the island of Texel, where his oldest son Adriaan Loosjes was born. He was trained at the Amsterdam Mennonite seminary and first served in Borne from 1859, where he met and later married Anna Geertruida Ballot in 1861. Hendrik Arend van Gelder (3 November 1825, in Wormerveer – 17 June 1899, in Haarlem) was a Dutch Mennonite teacher and minister. Van Gelder was the son of the paper maker Hendrik van Gelder and Aagtje Mats. He was trained at the Amsterdam Mennonite seminary and first served in Mensingeweer 1851–1853. Sijtze Klaas de Waard (1796, Groningen – 17 June 1856, Haarlem) was a Dutch Mennonite teacher and minister. Sybren Klazes Sybrandi
Sybren Klazes Sybrandi (1772, Leeuwarden – 17 June, 1854, Haarlem) was a Dutch Mennonite teacher and minister. He was trained at the Amsterdam Mennonite seminary and first served in Nijmegen 1805-1807 before moving to Haarlem where he became the father of the Sybrandi family of Haarlem Mennonites.Sybrandi family

Sybrandi served in Haarlem in the church and the Algemeene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit (ADS) until retirement in 1849. From 1812 he was also a member of the Teylers First Society. He retired in 1827 to become a director of Teylers Stichting. His son Klaas Sybrandi later also filled these positions.
