Doomsday (Skinny Puppy Album)
''Doomsday'' (also known as ''Brap: Doomsday: Back and Forth Volume 5: Live in Dresden'') is a live CD from the band, Skinny Puppy. The album was recorded at an August 20, 2000 performance at the Doomsday Festival in Dresden, Germany. This performance marked the reunion of former bandmates, cEvin Key and Nivek Ogre. It was the first Skinny Puppy concert since 1992, first in Europe since 1988, and first ever in the former East Germany. Skinny Puppy resumed touring in 2004 with The Greater Wrong of the Right Tour. Skinny Puppy
Skinny Puppy is a Canadian industrial music group formed in Vancouver in 1982. The group is among the founders of the industrial rock and electro-industrial genres. Initially envisioned as an experimental side-project by cEvin Key (Kevin Crompton) while he was in the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy evolved into a full-time project with the addition of vocalist Nivek Ogre (Kevin Ogilvie). Over the course of 13 studio albums and many live tours, Key and Ogre have been the only constant members. Other members have included Dwayne Goettel (1986–1995, also died in 1995), Dave Ogilvie, Dave "Rave" Ogilvie (long-time associate and producer from 1984–1996, and an official member from 1987–1988; not a relative of Kevin Ogilvie), Bill Leeb (1984–1986, under the pseudonym Wilhelm Schroeder), Mark Walk (2003–present), and a number of guests, including Al Jourgensen (1989), Danny Carey (2004), and many others. Rabies (Skinny Puppy Album)
''Rabies'' is the fifth studio album by Skinny Puppy. It was released on November 21, 1989 through Nettwerk. The album notably features Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen (credited as Alien Jourgensen) who performed electric guitar and vocals on several songs. The album spawned two singles, " Tin Omen" and "Worlock", the latter of which becoming one of the band's most recognizable songs. The cover art was made by longtime Skinny Puppy collaborator Steven R. Gilmore. In 1993 the CD edition was reissued by Nettwerk to correct mastering errors in the original release. ''Rabies'' was a commercial success for the band, but received mixed reviews from critics upon release, several of whom drew parallels between the record and Ministry's style, both favorably and unfavorably. Animatronic
Animatronics refers to mechatronic puppets. They are a modern variant of the automaton and are often used for the portrayal of characters in films and in theme park attractions. It is a multidisciplinary field integrating puppetry, anatomy and mechatronics. Animatronic figures can be implemented with both computer and human control, including teleoperation. Motion actuators are often used to imitate muscle movements and create realistic motions. Figures are usually encased in body shells and flexible skins made of hard and soft plastic materials and finished with colors, hair, feathers and other components to make them more lifelike. Thomas Kuntz (born January 13, 1965) is an American multi-media artist notable for his contemporary automata. He has devoted a lifetime to acquiring the skills of a designer, sculptor, mechanic, automatist, animator, model-maker, painter and conceptualist. Early life Kuntz was born in Phoenix, Arizona January 13, 1965. The youngest of four, his father was a surgeon, and his mother a folk artist/doll maker. They both provided the necessary gene pool and a stimulating environment for him to grow. As a child he pored over anatomy books, spent much time with sketchpads, and built his first scale model at age six. As a model maker, he was competing in the masters class (professional) by age 16. The Process was an art and philosophy collective formed in the early 1990s and birthed at the same time as, and with a subset of the same people from, the studio work for the Skinny Puppy album '' The Process''. Phil Western
Phillip Charles Western (August 12, 1971 – February 4, 2019) was a Canadian musician, based in Vancouver and a founding member of the bands Download, PlatEAU, Frozen Rabbit, and Off and Gone. Biography Having started his career as a drummer and eventually as a programmer, he became a remix engineer starting in the mid-1990s. His friendship with Dwayne Goettel led to him doing a small amount of keyboard work on the Skinny Puppy album '' The Process'', as well as creating the Subconscious record label with Goettel in 1993. After Goettel's death from a heroin overdose in 1995, he became partners with Cevin Key in several musical projects. ''Back and Forth 06Six'' is an album of previously unavailable Skinny Puppy material released through cEvin Key's Subconscious Communications in early 2003. The CD had two releases, each with different artwork and cases though the audio content was the same. Both releases were limited to 1500 copies.
