Donnie Jones (basketball)
Donald Isaac Jones Sr. (born July 7, 1966) is an American college basketball coach and former college basketball player. He is currently the men's head basketball coach at Stetson Hatters men's basketball, Stetson University. Prior to Stetson, Jones served as the head coach of the UCF Knights men's basketball team from 2010 to 2016 and at Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball, Marshall from 2007–2010. After spending three years as head coach at Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball, Marshall, amassing a 55–41 record, Jones was hired by UCF after the university decided not to retain Kirk Speraw for the 2010–11 season. Before Marshall, Jones was an assistant with the Florida Gators for 11 seasons, and was hired by Marshall after he helped Billy Donovan coach the Gators to consecutive national championships in 2006 and 2007. The Stetson Hatters men's basketball team represents Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, United States. The team currently competes in the ASUN Conference. Anthony Grant (basketball)
Anthony Duvale Grant (born April 15, 1966) is an American basketball coach who is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Dayton. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2006 to 2009, and at the University of Alabama from 2009 to 2015. Prior to becoming the VCU head coach, he was an assistant coach at the University of Florida from 1996 to 2006. Biography Early life After graduating from Miami Senior High School, Grant became an All-City first-team selection and Player-of-the-Year. He played at the University of Dayton from 1983 to 1987 while residing at 3 Evanston (The Gateway) and guiding them to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament before bowing out to eventual national champion Georgetown. 2011 College Basketball Invitational
The 2011 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) was a single-elimination tournament of 16 NCAA Division I teams that did not participate in the 2011 NCAA Tournament nor the 2011 National Invitation Tournament. The opening round began Tuesday, March 15. A best-of-three championship series between the two teams in the final was held on March 28, March 30, and April 1. The tournament was won by Oregon who defeated Creighton in the finals after losing game one but winning the next two games at home to claim the title. This was the second time that the tournament was won by a team from the Pacific-10 Conference who entered the tournament with a losing record (Oregon State, 2009). 2010–11 UCF Knights Men's Basketball Team
The 2010–11 UCF Knights men's basketball team was an NCAA Division I college basketball team that represented the University of Central Florida and competed in Conference USA. They played their home games at UCF Arena in Orlando, Florida and were led by first year head coach Donnie Jones. Following a 10–0 start to the season, in which they defeated #18 Florida, South Florida, and Miami, the Knights were nationally ranked for the first time in program history. At the time, UCF was one of only four schools to be ranked in the BCS standings and the AP men's basketball poll. They finished the season 21–12, 6–10 in CUSA play and lost in the first round of the 2011 Conference USA men's basketball tournament to East Carolina. 2007–08 Marshall Thundering Herd Men's Basketball Team
The Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball team represents Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. They compete in the NCAA Division I as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Marshall has advanced to the NCAA tournament five times through the years (their 1987 appearance having been vacated), most recently in 2018. The Thundering Herd has also played in the NIT five times, last appearing in 2012. Marshall won the NAIA National Championship in 1947, and is 7–2 all-time in the first collegiate basketball tournament, one year older than the NIT and four years older than the NCAA Tournament.
