Donna Minkowitz
Donna Minkowitz (born 1964) is an American writer and journalist. She became known for her coverage of gay and lesbian politics and culture in ''The Village Voice'' from the late 1980s through the mid-1990s, for which she won a GLAAD Media Award.Ferocious Romance: What My Encounters with the Right Taught Me About Sex, God, and Fury, The Free Press, 1998, frontispiece. Early life and education Minkowitz grew up in New York City and graduated from Hunter College High School in 1981. Career In 1998, she published the memoir ''Ferocious Romance: What My Encounters With the Right Taught Me About Sex, God, and Fury'' ( the Free Press). In that book, she went undercover with several anti-gay Christian Right groups including Focus on the Family and wrote about the things that she, a lesbian leftist, found she had in common with them. Lambda Literary Awards, also known as the "Lammys", are awarded yearly by Lambda Literary to recognize the crucial role LGBTQ writers play in shaping the world.
