Donna Compton
Donna Compton is an American bridge player. Compton won the World Mixed Pairs Championship in Philadelphia 2010 playing with Fulvio Fantoni from Italy. Compton owns a Bridge club in Dallas with her husband, Chris Compton, who is also a professional bridge player. Compton often acts at the non playing captain (NPC) for American teams playing in World Championships. Compton was the NPC for USA 2 in the d'Orsi Senior Bowl in Bali in October 2013. Compton's team discovered that a pair from their German opponents were using coughs and other signals to communicate information to the partner. Germany won the final, USA 2 filed a complaint. The German pair was found guilty of cheating, the German team was disqualified and USA 2 was declared the winners. Compton was the NPC for USA in all of their Buffett Cup appearances (2006, 2008, 2010, 2012). Compton was the NPC for USA 2, winners of the Bermuda Bowl in 2009. She is married to Chris Compton. World Mixed Pairs Championship
The World Mixed Pairs Championship is a bridge championship for mixed-gender pairs held every four years as part of the World Bridge Championships. Results World meets commonly run for 15 days on a schedule whose details vary. In 2006 the Mixed Pairs played Saturday to Monday, the first three days of the meet, with no other events underway. There were three qualifier and three final sessions with a consolation event ("Plate") during the last two sessions. Fulvio Fantoni
Fulvio Fantoni (born 9 November 1963) is an Italian international bridge player. He is a six-time world champion, a World Grand Master of the World Bridge Federation (WBF), and the WBF first-ranked player as of December 2011. He is one of 10 players who have won the Triple Crown of Bridge. Fantoni was born in Grosseto. November 1963, Fantoni says that he has lived "practically since I was born" in Ostia, in the coastal district of Rome. His regular partner for many years is Claudio Nunes, the second-ranked World Grand Master (April 2011). Nunes also lives in Ostia and they see each other socially. They play " Fantunes", for their surnames, an innovative bidding system characterised by natural but forcing one-level opening bids in all four suits. The Mixed Board-a-Match Teams is a bridge competition held at the summer American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) North American Bridge Championship (NABC). From 2010 the event is officially the Freeman Mixed Board-a-Match Teams, as it is contested for the Richard Freeman Memorial Trophy, named for Richard Freeman (1933–2009). This is the fourth trophy in play, following Lebhar, Barclay, and Chicago. The event is a board-a-match team event.
