Donna Allen (singer)
Donna Allen (born May 15, 1958) is an American dance-pop singer, born in Key West, Florida, and raised in Tampa. At one point a cheerleader for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, she got her start performing in the bands Hi-Octane, Trama and Maxx. During her tenure with MAXX she was courted by Alan Walden (Capricorn Records/Hustler Productions) before launching a solo career. She also sang backup on tour for Gloria Estefan for nine years. Career Allen's first disc was the Lou Pace-produced 1986 album, ''Perfect Timing'', and over the next few years she launched several hits on the US ''Billboard'' Hot Dance/Club Play chart. She had two Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Chart with "Serious" (1987, #8) and " Joy and Pain" (1989, #10). 1995's "Real", her last US chart hit, was taken from the soundtrack to the Sylvester Stallone film ''The Specialist''. "You Are So Beautiful" is a song written by Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher that was first released in 1974 on Preston's ninth studio album, ''The Kids & Me''. It was also the B-side of his single "Struttin'". Later that same year, English singer Joe Cocker released a slower version of the song on his album ''I Can Stand a Little Rain''. Cocker's version was produced by Jim Price, and released as a single in November 1974. The fifth season of the American reality talent show ''The Voice'' premiered on September 23, 2013 on NBC. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton returned as coaches for their fifth season, while CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera returned after being replaced by Usher and Shakira in season four. This was the final season to feature Green as a coach. This is the first season to extend the use of steals in the knockout round, which was previously made available only in the Battle rounds; and the Instant Save during live shows, allowing Twitter's tweets from the viewers (based on the airing of East Coast/Pacific time zones) to save a contestant eligible from elimination. "U Sure Do" is a song by British electronic dance music group Strike. Released in December 1994, it was their second single and reached number 31 in the UK charts. In 1997, it was featured on the group's only album, '' I Saw the Future''. Strike was a British electronic dance music band formed in 1994 consisting of Matt Cantor (later of Freestylers), Andy Gardner (later of Plump DJs) and the vocalist Victoria Newton. Career Strike formed towards the end of 1994. A chance vocal session for Victoria Newton at the studios of Fresh Records in Ladbroke Grove, landed her the role as the lead singer. Strike's first single, "Formula One", entered the lower reaches of the UK top 100 chart.
