Donie Collins
Donal "Donie" Collins (born 1 September 1950) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a right wing-forward for the Cork senior team. Collins joined the team during the 1971-72 National Hurling League and was a regular member of the starting fifteen for just one season until he left the panel after the 1972 championship. During that time he won one Munster medal and one National League medal. Collins was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Collins was a record four-time All-Ireland medalist with Blackrock and James Stephens. In addition to this he has also won five Munster medals and five county club championship medals. Playing career Club Collins began his club hurling career with Castlehaven, however, a move to Cork city resulted in a transfer to Blackrock. Blackrock GAA
Blackrock National Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located on the southside of Cork City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1883 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. No other Cork-based GAA club has won more Senior County Hurling titles or All-Ireland Club Championships. The club is sometimes known as 'The Rockies'. History Blackrock Hurling Club was officially founded in 1883, one year before the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association itself. The Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Luimneach) or Limerick GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Limerick. It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in Ireland. Dunhill GAA
Dunhill GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Dunhill, County Waterford, Ireland. The club enters teams in both GAA codes each year, which includes two adult hurling teams and one adult Gaelic football team in the Waterford County Championships. The club has won the County Senior Hurling Championship twice, defeating Ballyduff Upper in 1978 and Mount Sion 1979, and the Senior Football Championship once, when it defeated Tramore in 1975. Ray Cummins
Maurice Raymond "Ray" Cummins (born 9 November 1948) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer whose dual league and championship career with the Cork senior teams spanned fifteen years from 1967 to 1982. Born in Ballinlough on the south side of Cork city, Cummins was introduced to hurling by his father, Willie, a two-time All-Ireland medal winner with Cork in the minor grade. He developed his skills at Coláiste ChrÃost Rà while simultaneously coming to prominence at underage levels with the Blackrock club, before later playing with University College Cork. Cummins went on to enjoy a successful club career that spanned three decades, winning three All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals, and a total of seven county senior championship medals in both codes. Ballyhale Shamrocks is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Ballyhale in County Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1972 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. Ballyhale Shamrocks are the most successful club in the history of the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship with eight titles. Hurling History Beginnings Gaelic Games had been played in the parish of Ballyhale long before the Shamrocks club was established. By the early 1970s there were two competing clubs in existence in the parish, Ballyhale and Knocktopher, however, they were both facing extinction. Mount Sion ( ga, Cnoc Sion) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Waterford City, County Waterford, Ireland. It was founded by teachers in the school of the same name. Although technically separate from the school, the club still maintains a close relationship with the school, sharing the same sports facilities in the city. The club fields teams in both the Waterford Hurling and Gaelic football championships and has had many famous players, including John Keane, Philly Grimes, Tony Browne and Ken McGrath. The club is mainly concerned with the game of hurling and is the most successful in Waterford with 35 county title wins, although they did win 5 county football titles back in the 1950s. Éamonn O'Donoghue (hurler)
Éamonn O'Donoghue (born 5 February 1951 in Blackrock, Cork, Ireland) is an Irish former sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Blackrock and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team from 1974 until 1983. Playing career Club O'Donoghue first came to prominence as a member of the hugely successful Blackrock minor team of the late sixties. In all he won three successive minor championship medals as Blackrock secured a remarkable four-in-a-row between 1966 and 1969. By 1973 O'Donoghue had become a key member of the Blackrock senior team and lined out in his first championship decider. A 2–12 to 2–10 defeat of Glen Rovers gave him his first championship medal.
