Dongfanghong BJ760
The Dongfanghong BJ760 () is an executive sedan produced by BAW. Development started as a licensed copy of the GAZ-21 Volga with asssistance from the Soviets sharing chassis units, drawings and blueprints for reference, and was produced from 1960 to 1969 with a total of 238 units produced. It replaced the Jinggangshan sedan by BAW. During development, the car was named Xinghuo 76 (Spark 76), but was later changed to Dongfanghong for the production version. The name Dongfanghong means " The East is Red" and refers to a patriotic song of the Chinese Communist Party. The name has been used by multiple companies for branding and product names. The Jinggangshan () was the first passenger car produced by the Chinese automobile manufacturer Beijing Automobile Works (BAW) and sold under the Jinggangshan brand from 1958 to 1960. The Hongqi CA72 is a car produced by FAW Hongqi. It was the company's first production automobile and the first representative sedan that was constructed and built in China. The Chinese Beijing Automobile Works, formerly Beijing Jeep, BJ212 (Chinese: 北京212) and BAW BJ2020 is a Land Rover and Jeep inspired four-wheel drive, originally a 2.4 L (2445 cc) four-cylinder gas-engine powered (four-cylinder diesel engines were added in the 2000s) light-duty offroad utility vehicle in the half tonne class. The original design, depending in large part on Russian off-roaders from UAZ and possibly developed in conjunction with the UAZ-469, debuted in 1965 as the Beijing BJ212. It has been known as the BJ2020 series since the Chinese car classification system was changed in 1989. The GAZ M21 Volga is an automobile produced in the Soviet Union by GAZ (Gorkovsky Avtomobilniy Zavod, in English "Gorky automobile factory") from 1956 to 1970. The first car to carry the Volga name, it was developed in the early 1950s. Volgas were built with high ground clearance (which gives it a specific "high" look, contrary to "low-long-sleek" look of Western cars of similar design), rugged suspension, strong and forgiving engine, and rustproofing on a scale unheard of in the 1950s. The Shanghai SH760 is a car produced in China from 1965 to 1991 primarily for government officials not important enough to warrant a Hongqi (marque), FAW Hongqi and as a taxi. Great Leap Forward
The Great Leap Forward (Second Five Year Plan) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) was an economic and social campaign led by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from 1958 to 1962. CCP Chairman Mao Zedong launched the campaign to reconstruct the country from an agrarian economy into a communist society through the formation of people's communes. Mao decreed that efforts to multiply grain yields and bring industry to the countryside should be increased. Local officials were fearful of Anti-Rightist Campaigns and they competed to fulfill or over-fulfill quotas which were based on Mao's exaggerated claims, collecting non-existent "surpluses" and leaving farmers to starve to death. Higher officials did not dare to report the economic disaster which was being caused by these policies, and national officials, blaming bad weather for the decline in food output, took little or no action. The East Is Red (song)
"The East Is Red" is a Chinese revolutionary song that was the ''de facto'' national anthem of the People's Republic of China during the Cultural Revolution in the 1960s. The lyrics of the song were attributed to Li Youyuan (李有源), a farmer from Shaanbei (northern Shaanxi province), and the melody was derived from a local peasant love song from the Loess Plateau entitled "Bai Ma Diao" 《白马调》 (White Horse Tune), also known as "Zhima You" 《芝麻油》 (Sesame Oil), which was widely circulated in the area around Yan'an in the 1930s. The farmer allegedly got his inspiration upon seeing the rising sun in the morning of a sunny day.
