Donemana
Donemana or Dunnamanagh (named after the townland of Dunnamanagh, ) is a small village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is 7 miles or 11 kilometres north-east of Strabane, on the banks of the Burn Dennett and at the foothills of the Sperrins. It is the largest of the thirteen villages in the Strabane District Council area and had a population of 593 in the 2001 Census. Other anglicised spellings of its name include Dun mana hand Don mana h History The village was established in the early 17th century as part of the Plantation of Ulster, instigated by James I in 1609. Land in the area was granted to John Drummond who established the village; building a bawn (an enclosed, fortified farmyard, designed as a place of refuge for settlers in case of attack), 10 wicker-work houses, and a watermill for grinding corn. Donemana Railway Station
Donemana railway station served Donemana, County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. It was opened by the Donegal Railway Company on 6 August 1900. It closed on 1 January 1955. Accident The station was the site of a fatal accident after 9 p.m. on Sunday 7 September 1913, when an approaching train from Derry failed to slow down and stop. One person was killed and several injured, some seriously. One of the small group of passengers travelling from Derry, Margaret McCay, wife of farmer John McCay, from the townland of Gortileck between the villages of Dunamanagh and Artigarvan, was five months pregnant and suffered a mild concussion in the accident. She and the unborn child survived, with the safe arrival of John McCay on 4 January 1914. Donemana Cricket Club is a cricket club in Donemana, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, playing in North West Senior League 1. Andrew Robert McBrine (born 30 April 1993) is an Irish cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off spin. McBrine is the son of Alexander McBrine and the nephew of James McBrine, both of whom also played cricket for Ireland. William Porterfield
William Thomas Stuart Porterfield (born 6 September 1984) is an Irish former cricketer and a former captain of the Ireland cricket team. He played first-class cricket for Gloucestershire and Warwickshire. A left-handed batsman, he played for Ireland from 2006 to 2022, and has captained Ireland at all levels from Under-13 and is considered one of the greatest Irish cricketers of all time. George Fletcher Moore
George Fletcher Moore (10 December 1798 – 30 December 1886) was a prominent early settler in colonial Western Australia, and "one fthe key figures in early Western Australia's ruling elite" (Cameron, 2000). He conducted a number of exploring expeditions; was responsible for one of the earliest published records of the language of the Australian Aborigines of the Perth area; and was the author of ''Diary of Ten Years Eventful Life of an Early Settler in Western Australia''. Strabane District Council ( ga, Comhairle Ceantair an tSratha Báin; Ulster-Scots: ''Stràbane Destrìck Cooncil'') was a local council in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland established by the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 1972. Allan Bresland (born 16 August 1945) is a former Unionist politician from Northern Ireland representing the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). Bresland was a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for West Tyrone from 2007 to 2011. He was educated at Ballylaw Primary School, is a retired lorry driver with the Water Service and was first elected to Strabane District Council in 1993, representing the Glenelly area. Stephen O'Neill
Stephen O'Neill (born 19 November 1980) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer from Strabane, Northern Ireland, who played at senior level for the Tyrone county team. He won three All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals, two All-Ireland Under 21 Football Championship, Under 21 medals, and a All-Ireland Minor Football Championship, Minor medal. He was the 2005 All Stars Footballer of the Year, and won List of All Stars Awards winners (football), All Stars Awards in 2001, 2005 and 2009.
