The Donegal School District is a school district covering the Boroughs of Marietta and Mount Joy and East Donegal Township and the southern portion of Mount Joy Township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It is a member of Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit (IU) 13. The district operates one high school, one junior high school, one intermediate school, and one primary school. Marietta is a borough in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The population was 2,633 at the 2020 census. It is located on the east bank of the Susquehanna River northwest of Columbia. Geography Marietta is located in western Lancaster County at (40.057169, -76.555955). It is bordered to the north, east, and west by East Donegal Township, and to the south, across the Susquehanna River, by Hellam Township in York County. East Donegal Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
East Donegal Township is a township in northwestern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. At the 2020 census, the population was 8,690. History It is named after County Donegal, Ireland. The original township of Donegal was organized by the court of Chester County in 1722, and was one of the two townships which composed Lancaster County at the time of its erection in 1729. On the 24th of June, 1838, a division was effected, whereby the old township was constituted into two townships, to be separately and distinctly recognized as East Donegal and West Donegal. The settlers of East Donegal were of Scots-Irish descent and were primarily farmers who were drawn to the area by the rich soils and plentiful streams. Thus the abundant produce provided by the land was able to be made into flour by the many mills which sprang up in the area. Mount Joy Township is a township in northwestern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,753 at the 2020 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , all of it recorded as land. The borough of Elizabethtown borders the township to the southwest, and the borough of Mount Joy borders the southern end of the township. Unincorporated communities in the township include Bellaire, Aberdeen, Milton Grove, Anchor, and part of Rheems. David S. "Dave" Hickernell (born January 2, 1959) is a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 98th District and was elected in 2002. He currently sits on the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Local Government, and Transportation Committees. Personal Hickernell is a native of Marietta, Pennsylvania. Hickernell graduated from Donegal High School in 1977. Hickernell graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1983. Howard Bruce Sutter (; January 8, 1953 â October 13, 2022) was an American professional baseball pitcher who played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) between 1976 and 1988. He was one of the sport's dominant relievers in the late 1970s and early 1980s, making effective use of the split-finger fastball. A six-time All-Star and 1982 World Series champion, Sutter recorded a 2.83 career earned run average and 300 saves, the third-most in MLB history at the time of his retirement.
