Amédée Donatien Doublemard
The sculptor and medalist Amédée Donatien Doublemard was born at Beaurain in Nord (French department), Nord and was taught by Francisque Duret. In 1842, he enrolled at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts, École des Beaux-Arts of Paris and began exhibiting his work at the Paris Salon in 1844. He died in Paris on 20 July 1900. In 1855 he shared the Prix de Rome with Henri Chapu. This entitled him to study at villa Médicis, Rome where he stayed for three years. On his return to Paris, he was kept busy creating busts of the rich and famous of the period. He also completed several important public works such as his ''La France en deuil déposant une couronne sur la tombe des soldats morts pour sa défense, le 19 janvier 1871'' for Saint-Quentin, his monument honouring Bon-Adrien Jeannot de Moncey in Paris and his monument to Camille Desmoulins in Guise in the Aisne. Donatien Alphonse François, Marquis de Sade (; 2 June 1740 – 2 December 1814), was a French nobleman, revolutionary politician, philosopher and writer famous for his literary depictions of a libertine sexuality as well as numerous accusations of sex crimes. Donatien de Bruyne (1871–1935) was a French biblical scholar, textual critic, and Benedictine. He was born on 7 October 1871 in Neuf-Église, ordained in 1895. De Bruyne examined Latin manuscripts of the Vulgate, and he collated some of the manuscripts (e.g. Codex Frisingensis, Codex Carinthianus). De Bruyne questioned Jerome's authorship of the Pauline epistles of Vulgate. According to him Pelagius prepared the Pauline epistles. Donatien-Marie-Joseph de Vimeur, vicomte de Rochambeau (7 April 1755 – 20 October 1813) was a French military commander. He was the son of Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau. Biography He served in the American Revolutionary War as an '' aide-de-camp'' to his father, spending the winter of 1781–1782 in quarters at Williamsburg, Virginia. In the 1790s, he participated in an unsuccessful campaign to re-establish French authority in Martinique and Saint-Domingue. Rochambeau was later assigned to the French Revolutionary Army in the Italian Peninsula, and was appointed to the military command of the Ligurian Republic. In 1802, he was appointed to lead an expeditionary force against Saint-Domingue (Haiti) after General Charles Leclerc's death. Donatien Laurent (27 September 1935 – 25 March 2020) was a French musicologist and linguist. Biography Donatien was born in Belfort to polytechnician Pierre Laurent and a musician mother from Nantes. During his secondary education in Paris, he discovered Breton culture. He joined the Bleimor (Scouting), Bleimor Scouts and became a bagpiper.
