Don Payne (writer)
William Donald Payne (May 5, 1964 – March 26, 2013) was an American writer and producer. He wrote several episodes of ''The Simpsons'' after 2000, many of these with John Frink, whom he met while studying at the University of California, Los Angeles. The duo began their careers writing for the short-lived sitcom ''Hope and Gloria''. Payne later moved into writing feature films, including ''My Super Ex-Girlfriend'' (2006), and co-wrote '' Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer'' (2007), ''Thor'' (2011) and its sequel '' Thor: The Dark World'' (2013). Payne died from heart failure caused by bone cancer in March 2013. Early life Payne was born William Donald Payne on May 5, 1964 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Don Payne (musician)
Donald Ray Payne (January 7, 1933, Wellington, Texas – February 25, 2017, Plantation, Florida) was an American jazz double-bassist and electric bassist. Payne was raised in California and first played trumpet before switching to double bass in high school. His first major gigs occurred in the mid-1950s; he worked in the second half of the decade with Georgie Auld, Ornette Coleman, Maynard Ferguson, Calvin Jackson, Joe Maini, and Art Pepper. In 1958 he relocated to New York City, where he played with Tony Bennett, Chris Connor, and Mundell Lowe, then joined Herbie Mann and Astrud Gilberto for international tours. He also worked with Stan Getz around this time. He led his own ensemble with a rotating cast of sidemen, including Mike Abene, Joe Beck, and Gene Bertoncini. Payne began playing bass guitar in 1964, and worked in popular and rock idioms as well as in jazz as a session musician for New York studio recordings. Donald Milford Payne Jr. (born December 17, 1958) is an American politician who has been the U.S. representative for since 2012. A member of the Democratic Party, Payne served as president of the Newark city council from 2010 to 2012. Following the death of his father, U.S. Representative Donald M. Payne, on March 6, 2012, Payne ran in the primary to succeed him in Congress. His father was first elected in 1988 and reelected 11 times without significant opposition. Payne Jr. won the June 5 Democratic primary election, which is tantamount to election in the heavily Democratic district, and the November 6 general election. Early life, education, and early career Payne was born and raised with his two sisters, Wanda and Nicole, in Newark, New Jersey. His father Donald M. Corporal Donald Payne (born 9 September 1970) is a war criminal and former soldier of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment and later the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment of the British Army who became the first member of the British armed forces to be convicted of a war crime under the provisions of the International Criminal Court Act 2001 when he pleaded guilty on 19 September 2006 to a charge of inhumane treatment. He was jailed for one year and dismissed from the army. Service career Donald Payne joined the British Army on 5 June 1988, enlisting with the Queen's Lancashire Regiment, which subsequently amalgamated into the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. He was promoted to the substantive rank of Corporal on 30 June 2000. As an NCO he worked as a Provost Corporal with the Regimental Provost in Catterick Garrison.
