Donald Alfred Hansen (1924-1981) was a provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1971 to 1979 sitting with the governing Progressive Conservative party. Political career Hansen ran for a seat to the Alberta Legislature in the 1971 Alberta general election. He won the electoral district of Bonnyville defeating two other candidates in a closely contested race to pick up the seat for the Progressive Conservatives who went on to form government in that election. Bonnyville (provincial Electoral District)
Bonnyville was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1952 to 1997. The Bonnyville electoral district was created in 1952 from the northern part of the St. Paul electoral district. In 1997 the riding was renamed Bonnyville-Cold Lake, to more accurately reflect the two largest population centres in the constituency. Representation history The new district was won by former United Farmers MLA for St. Paul, Laudas Joly, running as a Social Credit candidate. Upon his retirement in 1955, the riding would be won by Jake Josvanger, as part of the Liberal Party's brief revival under James Harper Prowse. Social Credit would re-take Bonnyville in 1959, but new MLA Karl Nordstrom died in office in 1961, triggering a by-election later that year. Romeo B. Lamothe (October 2, 1914 - November 23, 1991) was a teacher, military man, and provincial politician from Alberta, Canada. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1945, seeing action in World War II. Lamothe served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1961 to 1971 sitting with the Social Credit caucus under Premiers E C Manning and Harry Strom. Ernest Douglas "Ernie" Isley (born June 29, 1937) is a former school principal and provincial and municipal level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1979 to 1993. The 1971 Alberta general election was the seventeenth general election held in the Province of Alberta, Canada on August 30, 1971, to elect seventy-five members of the Alberta Legislature to form the 17th Alberta Legislative Assembly. The Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta led by Peter Lougheed won 49 of 75 seats with 46.4 per cent of the popular vote in the new legislature to form a majority government. Lougheed's Progressive Conservatives defeated the incumbent Social Credit Party led by Premier Harry Strom who won 25 seats with 41.1 per cent of the popular vote.
