Donald Graham (politician)
Donald Graham (April 23, 1848 – 1944) was a Scottish-born farmer and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Yale-East in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1894 to 1898. He was born in Ardallin, Sutherlandshire, the son of Alexander Graham, and was educated in Tain, Ross-shire. Graham came to Canada in 1865. In 1875, he moved to British Columbia, settling in the Okanagan Valley. For a time, Graham drove a pack-train for a government survey party. In 1885, he married Adelaide Grier. Graham served as a justice of the peace and was reeve of Spallumcheen Spallumcheen is a district municipality in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Donald Houston Graham Jr. (June 14, 1914 – August 17, 2010) was an American real estate developer and businessman credited with transforming the urban landscape of Hawaii by building condos, resorts, hotel, residences and shopping centers. He developed and constructed the Ala Moana Center in Ala Moana, which opened in 1959 and remains the largest outdoor shopping mall in the United States. Biography Early life Graham was born on June 14, 1914, in Oakland, California. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and began his career as a bond trader. He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II, serving in an amphibious unit. He received two Bronze Star Medals for service at two major battles in the Philippines: the Battle of Leyte and the Invasion of Lingayen Gulf. He was in Tokyo during the Surrender of Japan. Blue Thumb Records was an American record label founded in 1968 by Bob Krasnow and former A&M Records executives Tommy LiPuma and Don Graham. Blue Thumb's last record was released in 1978. In 1995, the label was revived and remained active until 2005. History Bob Krasnow had been in the record business since the 1950s, working as a promotion man for King Records and also working for Buddah/Kama Sutra Records. Blue Thumb was originally intended by Captain Beefheart to be the name of his backing band. However, Krasnow did not think the name was right for the group. Later Krasnow chose the name for his label.
